Your job is to teach children extremely basic things. If I do not have a child teachers have absolutely no value to me outside of abstractly, hopefully, sending a kid to college that may have committed a crime on me or been on welfare.

Teachers are nothing but union hacks. If teachers want more money they should stop sucking at their jobs.

Glorified union babysitters :scusthov:

There is a financial incentive to not doing your job in the govt, but if anything there is a financial disincentive to doing a good job. When things are going well, funding gets cut. When things are fukked up, they continue to throw money at it. As long as the inner city schools are fukked up, the administrators can keep coming back asking for money and enrich themselves and their cronies.

Teaching is the only profession where you can get paid regardless of performance and outcomes. So many shytty teachers go to the schools in the inner city and keep their seat warm until retirement. While the good ones get burnt out and move on to another profession.

Yea you definitely understand the system and how public education is as big a joke as the bullshyt drug war...

It's the system and the way govt funding works that creates the abject failure of public education. I learned this interning at the GAO. There is a financial incentive to not doing your job in the govt, but if anything there is a financial disincentive to doing a good job. When things are going well, funding gets cut. When things are fukked up, they continue to throw money at it. Education is the one area where the failure of govt. intervention, despite great intentions is blatant to all but the most downzy of liberals.:obama:

:patrice: What if I told you good teachers would make more privately then they do publicly as part of the union...:merchant:

Who says teachers don't make a lot of money??????? All the teachers I know make a respectable living.....especially considering all the time they get off plus their generous benefits and pensions.

It is really interesting how liberals have you all fooled.....
Teachers is the South get paid shyt. I've done plenty of research during the past two years, because I will be looking for a teaching position after I get out of the Army next year. I'm looking at a loss of about $20,000 a year. A married, 18 yr old, in the military will make as much as, if not more than, a first year teacher in most Southern states. When I was living in North Carolina, a manager at McDonald's was paid more than a first year teacher in Cumberland County. I think being an educator is a job that you must have a passion for, because it isn't worth doing solely for the compensation alone.

So because its easy to be a teacher they shouldnt be paid more?

Sounds like a way for people to fool themselves into thinking that teachers dont deserve more pay more so than finding an actual reason.

You think that teaching those kids all of the time is easy? Think again. :bryan:
I didn't say the job is easy, I said to become one is. Very different. Your rationale can apply to a McDonald's employee as well.

I said it affects the pay. Wonder why they pay so much for a physician? Because everyone can't waltz up and practice unlike teaching. It is what it is. They offer more money then the terms become more stringent thus having less (already not enough) teachers for the growing population. Try applying some economics and quit the fairies and magic wands.

If only any country could go a full year without teachers, nurses and other "lazy unionised professions" so that you guys could see what a difference they make. Always the same spoiled western babies complaining about teachers "win too much" or "being lazy". shyt go out there and educated a nation yourself damn.

You're using should. I am not rationalizing, I am telling you what it is. Deal with it! :snoop: I wanted to become a teacher for the better good. Taught little kids for basically free at Huntington Learning Center to get experience and was no longer considered to even sub after passing all those tests and spending all that money because of a couple of arrests 3 years ago. I'll admit I am a little jaded but I didn't want to teach because of a paycheck or bytch about it should pay more. I understood the economics behind the pay when I considered.

How is someone not ambitious for wanting to teach? I know we've argued about this before but that makes no sense. The disrespect the teaching profession gets adds to this whole situation.
exactly. This is the same BS argument given about immigrants and their "lazy ways".

Teaching and the work immigrants do is some of the hardest shyt in the world and no respect is given.

The disrespect shown to teachers stems from the unmerited rewards. By that I mean, they receive pay and benefits from tax payers regardless of whether or not they deliver on their end of the bargain.

Anyone who feels duped by teachers has a very valid case.

the funniest thing I ever read on here considering the previous post.

smh.

teaching is easily one of the most important professions.

Yea there was a disconnect between what I would say about teachers as people now and what a teacher should be. The incentives in going into teaching now are not meritocratic and do not attract the best talent. Add in how I feel about unions and you have a rant :shaq2:
