Libertarians are generally two kinds of people: high school/college kids that want Ron Paul to be president because he promised to "legalize", and are unaware that under a libertarian president their student grants and their free education might altogether vanish; and an older, more cynical class of voters who thinks that ultimate self-reliance and minimal economic regulation is sustainable in a country this size.

Don't get me wrong, I've read plenty of literature on the ideology and love many of its principles dearly; particularly the strong non-interventionist foreign policy, vast social freedoms, and a devotion to the Bill of Rights (namely the 2nd Amendment). Big government sucks and is necessarily oppressive, but the complete opposite can't be the only viable solution.
This seems to be the only alternative to most on this board. Any critique of the state is an attempt to abolish it...

The state isnt in question, the overreaching, tyrannical state is.:umad:

Although, the "why have govt. at all" defense is coming soon i'm sure...:rudy:
Fine, well if you're not going to embrace anarchy then allow me to point out that your definition of tyranny and overreaching is as arbitrary as mine is :jawalrus:

Believe me when I say I love Ron Paul, and view him as a beacon of truth.. when he came to speak at The University of Iowa a couple years ago, I sat in the front row and my hands were numb from clapping the whole night lol. Gary Johnson is an even better candidate; more refined and seems a little more moderate. How though, can you convince me that the UNITED STATES would thrive under a Libertarian regime. I'm looking for an answer because it makes sense on paper, but the execution seems difficult.

No ideology should rule absolute.

But you are the one accepting libertarian theories w/o any backing evidence. Seems pretty absolute to me... as long as it comes out of a libertarian's mouth you are cool with it.
Could you be specific?

... and I question every theory.
Openly advocating them on this board places them directly under the scrutiny of left leaning brothas who are above average intelligence.
Its the discussion i'm after not being "right".

Government will always exist. Big government will always come into existence. Its more a matter of . Can demonic filth be kept out of government.

This is why the government of the Savior will last forever.

:duck:
Like the idea (and I call it an idea because there are no facts/figures to substantiate it) that "big govt" is responsible for the most deaths in human history?

If you "question every theory", why didn't you ask the basic question of how many people govt has killed? What's the leading cause of death today? Do you know?

:duck: So you are some kind of reverse psychology discussion agent now??? :heh: How are the discussions productive, when people spend half the time correcting your fallacies and correcting your red herrings/strawmen? No... you are a right winger through and through, continually :whoa: and backpedaling against the torrent of basic questions and objections you have no answer to. Most of the threads you make and shyt you post is pretty terrible.
