I haven't either. But...

Research Finds that Atheists are Most Hated and Distrusted Minority | NEWS JUNKIE POST

When atheists are looked upon more dimly than Muslims and homosexuals in this homophobic and post-9/11 country :wow:

And remember you live in NY. You might get treated different in other less liberal parts of the country.

My parents are from Guatemala and their entire generation is very religious and practice traditions that are heavily influenced by the Yoruba/West Africans , but my generation/their kids especially the ones born in the US could care less about religion. Many of my aunts and uncles know their kids don't believe in God and they are like :manny: I have an uncle who is a "medium" and I gave him the :comeon: when he asked me if I believed in it, but dude wasn't offended or angry as far as I could see.

He's not reaching. I know atheists who have that kind of reaction to very simple things like that.

Perhaps, but theres also plenty of theists like that. I think I can safely say that oversensitive theists greatly outnumber oversensitive theists.

PEOPLE HATE ATHEISTS BECAUSE THEY ARE WORST THAN JEHOVAH WITNESSES. AT LEAST I CAN CLOSE THE DOOR ON THEM.

SOMEBODY COULD SNEEZE AND GET A "BLESS YOU" FROM ME. ATHEIST WILL HOP IN AND BE LIKE "WHO'S GONNA BLESS HIM? IT DAMN SURE AIN'T GOD. YOU KNOW WHY?????!!! BECAUSE HE DOESN'T EXIST!!!!!!" THEY CAN REALLY fukk UP THE MOOD SOMETIMES.

No, but it suggests the phenomena isnt that widespread or representative of the majority of atheists.

Actually, the experiences of one person alone don't suggest anything at all, considering there are billions of other people in the world who may be examined for research purposes. Implications can be understood once empirical evidence is collected and interpreted.

BREH I'VE HEARD "GOD DOESN'T EXIST" 3 TIMES TODAY AND SEEN 3 BUMPER STICKERS THIS WEEK. I LIVE IN A COLLEGE TOWN SO THAT'S PROBABLY IT.

I'm not "playing dumb" or deflecting anything. If anything, it seems like you don't want to have this kind of discussion with me.

To be quite honest, I'd rather not have it with you either, so let's not talk about this anymore.

Yes, but the implication was that this is how all or most atheists act. Sure if you live in a cave and dont interact with many people then your anecdotal experience on this subject is pretty meaningless. But if you do interact with a larger percentage of the population than your experience has more worth. Yes it could be the luck of the draw that you've never encountered these people, but again the implication was that this phenomena was rather widespread.

DOESN'T FEEL GOOD BEING GENERALIZED DOES IT?
