Good video. Religion is a funny thing. Funny how he talks of "God" as being "Ego". Because if you really think about it, you have to have a hell of an ego to look at all the religions to ever exist in the history of the world and feel like you've picked the one correct religion.

This.

I remember Bill Maher quoted someone that I can't remember right now... but he said "Religion is ego masquerading as humility."

That always stuck with me, and I think it's true. I mean, how is it not ego that allows someone to believe that this god made the entire universe for a particular race in a particular species on one particular planet. Not only that, but they know (or at least mostly claim to know) how we all got here, what happens after we die, and how we should behave whilst we're living. If that's not ego I don't know what is.

I don't think that's the worst of it. I think that the ego part that Judeo-Christian or Muslim religion cultivates is that God 'cares' about you or 'loves' you.

That's why I shake my head not at geniune believers but these hypocrites and 'reformed' scumbags. Some bytch who has 4 children by 3 different fathers suddenly acts righteous because of her "relationship with God". She knows God is aware of what's truly in her heart and has forgiven her.:stopitslime:

"You have to consider the possibility that God does not like you, never wanted you, in all probability he hates you."

So? What does your miniscule personal experience in Michigan somewhere have to do with anything?
You seem to have missed my point completely. I said there aren't atheists who speak openly about their lack of religiosity that are mainstream beloved household names. Bill Maher is on HBO and occupies his niche and is polarizing and mostly disliked. The only reason I mentioned it is because you said people are mad at atheists because of atheists on TV, as if there is some kind of large, vocal atheist presence on mainstream television and all you could come up with is one with one polarizing guy who hosts a niche political show on a channel that you have to pay to even see.
Nobody said they did. It's not about whether or not anybody "attacks" atheists. Atheists are probably only about 10% of the population (probably more but many are closeted) and most people do not come in contact with a lot of vocal atheists regularly, so what the fukk reason would they have to attack them? The point is atheists are excluded, ostracized, and looked upon as less moral or flawed by many people in this country. This is like saying black people are not excluded or ostracized or deemed deficient in some way ever because it's not common to see people openly calling them ******s in the public sphere. In other words, it's patently absurd.
 Every time there are empirical facts presented in front of you that like don't want to believe, you just say you don't want to believe them. Evolution, the causes of homosexuality, the animus towards atheists.

Why even debate or discuss anything if you're just going to choose to be an ignoramus and put up an impermeable membrane between your brain and the facts? There are several studies that show atheists are the most disliked group in America.

University of Minnesota Study on American Attitudes Towards Atheists & Atheism

Some Americans Reluctant to Vote for Mormon, 72-Year-Old Presidential Candidates

The study results not conforming to what you would like to believe doesn't mean they're flawed, it's means your critical thinking skills are.

When as recently as 20 years ago, the sitting President of the United States felt comfortable enough to say atheists shouldn't be considered patriots or even citizens, what does that tell you? Nobody even cared. What do you think the reaction to that would've been if George Bush said blacks shouldn't be considered citizens? I'll wait...
lol...and you know this based on what? A water cooler discussion you had with two white co-workers? :rudy:
Again, it's not about whether or not people say "I hate atheists." Very few people will openly admit to hating anybody. Do you think the average white racist walks around saying he hates ******s and spics? Do you think the average homophobe walks about saying they hate fakkits?

And once again it's not about people actively hating or attacking atheists. Even if they don't actively hate atheists, a lot of people generally have a sense of antipathy, distrust, and condescension toward atheists, and research has proven that. shyt, even when I was still religious, I didn't hate atheists, but I looked down on them in the sense that I thought they were morally deficient and going to Hell because I didn't know any better. So do you, as it is very apparent in your posts, but you won't admit because it would undercut the argument you're trying to make.
You claimed that atheists are free to openly speak as much as they want without any negative consequence which I pointed out is complete bullshyt. You have to look no further than sohh/the coli to hear stories of posters here (not me) who still haven't told their own families they're atheists/agnostics because they don't want to upset them.
Yeah, people trolling and dissing religion on online forums is equivalent to the negative perceptions the vast majority of people have toward atheists that affect their lives, relationships, and families in day-to-day life.

There is always going to be an angry or demonstrative reaction from any minority group excluded from the mainstream whether ideologically, racially, culturally, or religious against the dominant force in society. If you want to diss that fine, but pretending it exists in the vacuum and is only due to atheists being inherently angry a$$holes is the height of ignorance. You sound like a socially conservative white man bytching about how blacks are so angry, pumping up Sharpton/Jackson/Obama/New Black Panther Party/ACORN boogeymen and turning reality on its head, into an alternate one where the powerless minority is really the oppressive tyrant.
Jackson, Sharpton=Maher, Dawkins...more boogeyman bullshyt. It's been proven that atheists are looked upon more negatively than blacks, jews, gays, Muslims, hispanics, asians, and Mormons multiple time from multiple sources. But you can tell yourself whatever you want.
You need to stop being stubborn and actually try to think in a manner consistent with logic and facts instead of telling yourself what you want to believe with zero evidence then responding with "its cuz of the internet!" when you're refuted with factual evidence.
Refutation of reality.

You can believe what you need to believe. Atheists aren’t the most hated group in America. No other "hated" group in America has to prove they are hated. Its common knowledge what the hated groups are. The majority of Americans never think of or consider atheism enough to actually hate it. All of your analogizes are missing the point. I know why you need to believe this and it's ok.

Point is.... I'm not saying atheist aren't the most hated, simply because I don't see them hanging from trees... I'm saying

(1) They are not the most hated because most people dgaf about them, don't consider them and they aren't significant enough in people’s lives for the majority of people to hate them.

(2) For the most part, the atheist people consider irritating a$$holes are the militant e-atheist like you, and the antagonistic jerkoffs on TV. That’s it.

(3) All your retarded rants amount to generalizations about people who aren't atheist, when in reality, I can almost guarantee over 95 percent of religious people VVD knows off the internet do not hate atheist.

(4) I can see y a person would become like you. One of my cousins is the same way. No one gives two shyts that he doesn’t believe in God.. yet he is always dissing religion, talking shyt, and going nuts because the whole world is against his beliefs. It reminds me of what I used to tell white people at my job about me being pro-black… pro-black isn’t anti-white. There are few exceptions of course, but most religious folk aren’t on a hate campaign towards atheism… and the “God bless you” or “Peace be with you”, and all those phases are actually out of care not hate. Pro-religion isn't anti-atheist..sometimes it’s anti atheism. When an atheist says, “Go pray to ur invisible daddy in the sky that commands to automatically hate science after reading the Bible..” .. I’m sure that’s out of love.

Because atheists are usually a$$holes.

Many I noticed aren't just a$$holes, but they're usually elitists who look down on others.I`m not talking all atheists but the ones who wear it like a badge of courage, those are the types that people hate.

I know too many atheists who think they're intelligent just because they don't believe in God, but yet they're pretty uneducated as a whole

If truth be told there are a$$holes on both sides, but here's a couple of facts:

-there are far more theists than atheists, so based on numbers alone you're going to have more dirtbag theists than dirtbag atheists.

-even if atheists were as 'in your face' as theists, common sense should dictate that they should be allowed more leeway. The current 'militant' atheism has only been widespread in the last century or so, and I'm being generous here. Compare that to the millenia that theists have had to aggressively (and I do mean aggressively) spread their beliefs. So there's a lot of catching up to do before theists can pretend they're being victimized.

Breh I cant claim a team lol.

And religious people don't look down on people who don't believe what they believe? They don't feel like their religion is more correct then others? Of course they do, so let's stop the double standard and the villanization of the "a$$hole athiests" just because they don't buy what you guys are selling.

:rudy:you want to back that up with any facts or are you just going to continue writing bullshyt whenever it's convenient for your argument?

People aren't a$$holes because they're atheist. People are just a$$holes. There are religious a$$holes (far more) and Atheist a$$holes. Their beliefs are irrelevant.

Are any of you atheist actually hated in real life? I know its cool to cry about the atheist plight via the internet and pretend like ur life is a living hell( that u don't believe in).

But who really hates atheist? Maybe I need to get out more because I really don't know these people.

I don't see how anyone even know ur atheist. If ur a devote religious person there may be things that will force u to show ur faith. This is America, most people aren't walking around talking about religion n shyt. NTM people hate Muslims and generalize Muslims.. people aren't really concerned about atheist.. they don't even affect shyt.

Because they challenge people's core belief systems they've been heavily indoctrinated with since they were children and don't want to admit to themselves they're living a lie.

came in here to say this, really. Except for them being "wrong". But that's neither here nor there.

People really do have a "For my team or Against my team" mentality.

Skin color, politics, territory, religion, sports.... With or Against. YOu're hated if you're different or think differently.

Some people dont even like people who go to different churches than them.

Of course they're gonna hate you for not believing what they believe at all.

Wonder what da body count is for people tortured, raped, and murdered in da name of christianity, islam, or any other religion versus dat of atheism.

Just off the top

Stalin 60 million
Mao 70 million
Pol Pot 2.5 million

Probably 90% of the prison population were atheist when they committed their crimes.
