Kd doesn't need everyone standing around spotting up and setting a million picks

guarantee if you ask NBA players who they would rather guard they would say Lebron over Durant... There arent many people in NBA history stopping KD at that height and clip

It's not a Bronsexual debate, you nikkas lose your bias for a second you realize a KD vs LeBron as a scorer topic is actually a really relevant and intellectual talking point...

I know KD has a wetter jumper and unlimited range. Offensively no real weaknesses. Besides having a wetter jumper and unlimited range, their scoring prowess is close...

I'd give KD the edge because of that, but not by much. Historically, despite not having KD range (really, name the ONE guy in NBA history with KD range lmao)...despite the range and pure jumper, LeBron gets to his spots whenever he wants, can play outta the post (this idea he has "zero" post game is unfounded), can pull up, has a midrange, is an outstanding finisher, etc....

I'll repeat: KD is a better scorer because the pure jumper and the stronger array of moves counts for something...

But this idea that "it's not close" is unfounded, which is particularly telling considering a)LeBron is the only legendary scorer ever who wasn't score-first, and b)LeBron is .2 ticks higher in career scoring average versus KD, and only .1 behind him in career playoff average...

LeBron has averaged 30 in the playoffs 6 times compared to twice for KD, but somehow iys not close?

Anti-Bron's can't even try to be logical...

MJ is still the best scorer ever but if KD had Kobe or MJs mentality, it would be him. I honestly believe he could average 40 in the NBA right now if he wanted to.

I agree. KD has never gone ballistic. Always measured, always calculating, even in his high scoring games.

Sometimes I think he just says “that should be enough” whereas the other two are shooting until the clock hits zero or they just get tired.

MJ averaged 30.1 ppg for his career.

We have to separate "best" from who has the most desirable skill set. If I was building a scoring machine....they'd be KD and his height/shooting plus Lebron's physique and power. Durant probably has the best tools to work with as a scorer...so if we say "who has the best starter kit" its KD most likely.

lebron is way more eff in raw fg% while not being nearly as assisted as durant is. Lebron is basically getting buckets for dolo against set defenses that are geared in on him while durant is getting freebies against scrambling defenses (trying to stop curry)

we can go back to KD's mvp season and see a similar trend although not as drastic as now

This is that same skill set & optics Vs numbers argument, as is always the case w/ LeBron vs anyone in terms scoring, whether it’s KD or Kobe. It looks better and KD has the skillset, but in actuality, LeBron just scores more somehow, despite KDs better shooting, etc, while averaging more assists as well....

This is true and it works both ways...

The perception is that KD has the ball far less than LeBron (someone in this thread actually brought up usage, so it's a relevant talking point), but the numbers say LeBron is only slightly higher usage than Durant. The optics don't meet reality, and I think because LeBron has a way of controlling a game like very few guys ever have, people think he's dominating the ball more than he actually is...

I agree with the consensus that KD is the more gifted offensive player but the assertions that it "isn't close" is mind-blowing, we're not comparing KD to Draymond Green here...

Top 3 scorer all-time for me, top 5 at worst, probably the most effortless scorer we've seen but that's kinda of a backhanded compliment when MJ was more likely to go ballistic with his scoring, Kobe as well

its a combo of things. lebron has higher peaks in scoring than durant. Kobe has higher peaks in scoring than lebron but he he also has lower peaks of bad shooting to get those numbers. lebron flat out gets buckets

and has done it against better defenses
