Why is the NBA getting all this criticism about the game and the TV networks get off scot-free?

David Stern would not allow Shaq to disrespect the MVP Nikola Jokic during his MVP Announcement. Adam Silver wants to be Buddy Buddy with his player while they need a Commish who will fight for their respect.
David Stern was already disrespecting players with that cac dress code and given racist agency to feel, they had a legitimate reason to dislike the players. The heat tbe 2004 men’s Olympic team got going INTO the Olympics by the media is something I will never move past.

Yall need to stop acting like Stern was a saint

It does seem a bit strange.
It's as if they feel they whined about baseball and got some rule changes.
Now it's time to give basketball the same treatment.
Either that or there's no compelling USA superstar now that Curry and Lebron fell off.

The media can make anyone they want to make compelling. They’re doing it to Josh Allen right now. But you had over two decades worth of hate towards NBA players that have gotten to this point where the media has no vested interest into pouring interest in an NBA player.

You need players people want to see actually playing, and a compelling product. Without that, a catchy song and fancy graphics means nothing.

Nothing compelling about seeing a 3 point contest between two teams and you have no idea who is actually playing.

A lot of the hate the league/players get it’s because of racism. A majority black league with a bunch of foreigners that WASPs can’t identify with. Then a very small minority of American white players that range from good to very solid.
This is a big part of it.
As a comparison, the criticism of majority-yt baseball was aimed at the sport itself: Games too long, defensive shifts, pitch timer, bigger bases.
Yet criticism of majority-Black Basketball is aimed at the players: They don't try hard, they load manage, they make too much, they form super teams, they're too friendly with each other, they take too many threes....
You get the sense there's nothing the players can do that would make please some critics.

i just left the Hornets game and they were losing by 30 at halftime. Nobody was doing shyt but Lamelo until Miles in the 3rd quarter. Houston was getting ever shot they wanted. That’s not good basketball for this league man. Blaming networks is only a small part if you’re blaming people.. these players aren’t playing with a damn

I'm actually glad this thread got made because I was thinking about this earlier. The networks and their coverage is definitely an issue but the NBA has completely dropped the ball on promoting the game as well. They never should have stopped the Where Amazing Happens campaign.

There's awesome plays that happen every night but nothing gets burned into people's heads anymore because they don't highlight them. That Giannis block in the Cup semis, which was almost identical to the one he had in the Finals, is something that should have had a commercial for it.

Steph's night night shot in the first Mavs matchup:

This layup from Ja tonight:

This stuff needs to be specifically promoted to tell people, "watch these games so you can see this happen live."

I think it's more than that though. Like the NFL can just throw things up and it's going to be good ratings. You have trash ass pre-season NFL games that in terms of ratings outdraw marquee NBA, MLB, games.

I feel like the NBA is still the most watched league after NFL. College Football probably is it's closest threat if they haven't outright passed them. But, the NBA still draws better than Baseball, Hockey, Soccer, MMA/Boxing etc. I honestly feel like the NFL bullying it's way into more nights that were traditionally NBA nights like Christmas. That is the real reason everyone is all WTF is happening to the NBA. That and then it's perfect for clickbait shyt like the Outkick a$$holes like to do. They won't say shyt about Nascar getting bushed by Fox for being a perennial ratings loser. There's more clicks and buzz talking about how the NBA is losing viewers. Because that can get traction.
