I never meant it as a slight, just the mere fact that Rice's whole career was played in a tougher era, PLUS HIS NUMBERS, this shouldn't even be a question to who was the better player.

Funny thing is, let me ask you, who do you think is the better WR?

His era wasn't any tougher. I still don't get it. Ty Law got away with what he got away with and suddenly, every db was doing what Ty Law did prior to refinement of the rules.

:heh:

It's bullshyt. You dudes stay fronting like the Blount Rule came to be in 2004, as if receivers like Michael Irvin wasn't killing DBS pushing off of them and not being flagged. Receivers have been having it good since Marino and Joe played.

that wasnt the point...Rice by all accounts is evne more selfish and a even bigger dikk[PAUSE] then Moss but the media ignored it

49er stan here, but Jerry would get fried for some of the shyt he got away with.

Look at cheese eyes, he got away with so much shyt that was kept under wraps during his playing days it was pathetic.

How is it not a tougher era to pass in? Today we have record numbers in passing being broken like it's nothing.

See you just like to argue with me, you have no reference or response to the actual topic but to try and argue with me.

I asked you about the topic but you refuse to discuss it.

I own you. You don't care about this topic, you care about me.

The reasons are already stated Rice was, is, and will be the GOAT also he WON :whoa: now thats no slight to Moss because TEAMS win rings but its still is gonna be a factor.
Plus Moss would half-ass it and not even try a decent number times in his career (stuff like that just doesnt get a pass).

Also Im young so idk how it was in those days but it seems like athletes in the modern era are on such a microscope and are scrutinized for EVERY thing they do. Part of it is because there's so much more money involved and the ATHLETE as a whole has to be a "role model" and whatnot and not just by their play on the field :manny:

Yea also things were more tight-lipped and swept under the rug back then. Its 2013 and ppl still dont know whether or not Jordan's flu game was a hangover. Had that happened today with LeBron James there would be video footage of him drinking and partyint on WSHH, TMZ, Mediafakeout, Bossip, before tipoff.

I agree Moss was great before the rule turns. to a point but the rules now are on such a level that favors the WR that its almost unwatchable

The Niners have the best d in the league and the Falcons threw for 300 in the 1st half becasue of the rules.. u dont see good defenses anymore and it sucks

There's no question that it got even easier for the offense post Colts crying though.

It is true that the game did lighten up on WR's in the 80`s as well due to real change, but today it's by far the softest coverage the leagues ever seen
what the Colts did was ask for the league to reinforce the rules from 1978.

NFL offenses got easier post 1978, which is why the 1980s had so many passing and receiving records broken. That hurts your "Rice had it easier" argument because guy like Lance Alworth, Raymond Berry, Fred Biletnikoff, Don Hutson, Paul Warfield, Bobby Mitchell, etc could say otherwise about Rice.

When did it help Moss, and why is there some act as if receivers were getting raped all the time? Michael Irvin was the master of offensive PI and it never getting called. Receivers have been getting away with things for years.
