:skip: I’m not a youngin. I’m just not a TI dikkrider who ignores reality. How many artists fiended for a TI feature? When did TI ever release a mixtape that was praised by the streets as much as Rich Forever? Even now, plenty of people are asking for more Ross, but you won’t see anyone doing the same for TI.

T.I. was a highly sought after feature at one point in his career. Many of the songs he was featured on were hits. Cannot say the same for Ross. Ross needed features for his own hits. T.I. had songs like "What You Know" hit Top 5 without a feature. Ross never got there. Only thing Ross had over T.I. was mixtapes. I would even put Ross's catalog over T.I.'s, but Ross was never as popular as T.I. Not even prime Ross.

The Coli is slow as usual.

He lost alot of support from Black women after the "molly in her champagne" situation. Alot of them got creeped out from that situation

No Black artist is capable of being big without the support of Black women. That goes for whether the artist is male or female. This applies to all genres.

All artists have had controversies, but because Ross is a fat Black nikka it was easy for black women to drop their support of him.

Women drive what music the club plays so their loss in interest in Ross caused a ripple effect

Ross lost support when he gave Rich Forever away for free and GFID was the retail. GFID is by no means a bad album, but Ross/Def Jam dropped the ball because:

1) "Stay Schemin" was a bigger song than any of the singles he dropped from GFID

2) The joint with Nicki and the Just Blaze joint flopped

3) The mixtape had potential hits and better songs

He never recovered after that.

This is also true he was slacking but the root cause is loss in support of Black women breh. Every artist has a fall off period but his has been too long.

Trust me remember at Ross peak how insanely popular he was. You couldn't go a block without hearing his music blasted. That had a part to do because of women too, a Black artist even rappers cannot be huge without them. Even Gucci has a female fan base.

Black women is also why TI lost support. He lost support after the Iggy fiasco. He got super woke/militant after that whether because he realized his mistake with her or to get back black women on his side...or a combination of both.. But that made him lose support in addition to other comments he would make like the "I cant vote a woman for President" and things like that...

So the women can respect philantrophy the TIs and Rosses do for their community but music wise, they are headstrong when they take support away...once its gone its gone.

TO give you some more names this is also why Nelly fell off. 50 Cent also.....they liked 50 for that first two albums cause of the Birthday song and cause of the muscles but got bored especially with his later c00ning . Nelly cause of the Spelman drama and Tip Drill

Nah Ross was still up even after those mishaps. What really curved his momentum was that issue with the GDs. It cost him millions in tour money because of cancellations. It also ended his reign at the top of the chain.

This era is about youthful appearance and escapism with drugs instead of taking oneself seriously so the 30 year-old plus "boss" image doesn't work. Like another poster said T.I. and Jeezy dealt with the same thing and it's for the same reason.

He definitely displaced some nikkas on the GOAT leaderboard...

Let's pause here. The only cats on this list with better careers than Ross, and are arguably better rappers than Ross, is Wayne and Ye. Tip, 50, Jeezy, come on, fam. Those nikkas not close to Ross...

Rozay on that Top 20-25 list. I don't know why cats are so hesitant with him. He is a Top 5 South rapper ever...
Wayne is the only person to have both.
Ye isn't a better rapper and even if he was can't get full credit.
Jeezy is not a better rapper.
50 is not a better rapper and his crazy peak but steep falloff vs Ross's longevity is interesting
T.I. is about his equal

Ross was never really a female-driven rapper though. If anything that's why he probably didn't peak and have a string of Platinum+ albums like the other names did. T.I., 50, and Nelly were all considered attractive by women and had huge records designed for them. Ross wasn't and didn't so I don't think the "women dropped him" theory really sticks.

He been dealing with health issues, attempts on his life, beefs
All those distractions then add the outside business ventures
I wonder how much effort he was really putting into these most recent albums
