Nah Ross was still up even after those mishaps. What really curved his momentum was that issue with the GDs. It cost him millions in tour money because of cancellations. It also ended his reign at the top of the chain.

Ross never had the buzz, hype, and acclaim he had in 2012 again. After Rich Forever/GFID, Ross was pretty much cooling down.

I MEAN...
How many times can you rhyme over a " godfather" beat and then name the song as if its an island resort cocktail

Gimmick is old

Plus he's never in the news or doin random interviews

I just don’t get these types of posts. Rap as a whole is littered wit his some of the same trap style production, to the point where even underground acts are using it, and that style has even bled over into other genres, but Ross’ gimmick and style is old??

This era is about youthful appearance and escapism with drugs instead of taking oneself seriously so the 30 year-old plus "boss" image doesn't work. Like another poster said T.I. and Jeezy dealt with the same thing and it's for the same reason.

Why do yall this? Every rapper has their time where they're buzzing. That time is only going to be a small portion of their entire career. Ross in his 40s. The music he making at this point is for his true fans.

There are people on here acting like a music career is a science

Everyone has their mainstream peak and how big and how long it last is different for every artist

What’s important is that they develop a legacy during that period that will keep them paid off music forever

The only thing true about a rap career is the longer you’re rapping the less the youth are going to want to hear from you and the youth drive hype in rap

You cant be an A+ artist if your shyt never sold major units though. shyt BMF didn't even crack the top 50 and Teflon Don only went Gold in the states, and wood everywhere else in the world.

I'm not saying he didnt have a run, I actually think he had a damn good run for his stature in the game.

As I said though he was always a level below his peers e.g. Kanye, Wayne, Tip, Jeezy, 50 etc.

He was going gold when it was hard to go gold

You should post like this more often instead of the trolling garbage when it comes to Drake, Nicki, and Cardi

I can't be the only person who felt like Ross' movement kinda fizzled after GFID dropped. The hype for that album was crazy. Teflon Don was a great album and put him in position to do big things. Given Ross' ear for beats, the success of the previous album, and his connects...I think we all assumed the album would be GREAT. Then word that the first single was produced by JUST BLAZE...and the snippet of the beat was fire. But that song was kinda trash due to a terrible hook. I felt like aite, he'll bounce back. But then the next single was the Nicki Minaj one if I remember correctly, and that shyt didn't do anything either.

Album came out and while it had a couple classic Ross songs like Amsterdam, overall that shyt was a disappointment. Next album (Mastermind) was better but at that point the decline in popularity was evident, and now here we are.

He not one of these youngins, he in the same space as jay-z but it's easier for him to pump out albums quicker.
The boss is consistent and financially straight. Let us young adults and you old heads who grew up on the boss just enjoy the music. Streaming era anyways, being a fakkit clout chaser gets you spin if you not one of the big 4 (Drake, kendrick, Cole and Ye).

Somewhat true. Never seen such accuracy in less words about the current musical landscape. You got artist in the middle like Kodak and Migos.

Yeah breh, it's sad. shyt is so saturated and full of low quality substance with very little classics. Most of the music has no artistic merit. It's really the beat makers who are holding the genre down somewhat.

These kids will never know what it's like to anticipate a mixtape nor ask mom for $10 to cop the debut of the next dope rapper who has next lol.
Then the wonder if it will be dope album or decorative weed plate, as you pop the shyt in your CD player lol.
Thank God mp3 players were becoming affordable when I was a teen lol.
