Because now most artist rely on the computer to help them sing. RnB focused on vocal talent, and now its possible to be a music artist without any talent what so ever. Most of the time they only have their looks to showcase.
You know what I don't get is when people say" ________is a studio singer". WTF is a studio singer ?:what: You can either sing or not.
If you can sing you can sing anywhere.

These nikkas exposin themselves with their shyt tastes in music
mainstream R&B is on it's last leg....

I listen(ed) to just about everything from Donnie Hathaway(in your sig)to lalah hathaway to Ledisi to Tinashe. The artist out now have been out for while now, most a damn near decade. There is not much new talent coming out in R&B like in the past.

That's the point. MAINSTREAM r&B may not sell alot these days, but R&B itself is definitely not dead. Acts like Miguel, Janelle Monae, Lianne Le Havas, Daley, Luke James, and a host of others have been well received. And alot of these artists haven't been out that long. People focusing on the mainstream like that's the only lane that matters.

It should matter, good music should be recognized and played on major media stations and at the very least there should be balance. Janelle Monae is not new.

So the music isn't great unless rolling stone and clear one channel is co-signing it? If everything needed co-signing from mainstream outlets, we would miss out on countless artists. While I agree with you that mainstream outlets should play Luke James as much as they do Justin Timberlake, I certainly don't think the genre needs these outlets to thrive either. While Janelle Monae may not be new, she certainly isn't mainstream either, yet she has a great following and a critically acclaimed album.

It's dead because nowadays if you sing about treating your girl right it's looked at as simpin. The music back then made people want to share in something deeper than one night stands and tricking. You had numerous cds that you could play through in any situation whether you were trying to make a baby or was going through some ish in life..

These cats think singing about love and real relationship things make them less of a man.

We could go on and on but, I digress

At nikkas talking about R&B is for women and gays?

How old are you. Nikkas like Teddy, Marvin, R. Kelly, Jodeci, H Town, Dru Hill, Boys 2 Men used to sing the panties off women.

The females were good too En Vogue, prime Toni Braxton, Brandy, Whitney, and prime Mariah.

I feel you but that's the issue some have is why is it not mainstream anymore. That thread that compared the 1997 billboard top songs to 2013 was eye opening.

1997 top charts had
Blackstreet
R. Kelly
Keith Sweat
En Vogue
Usher
Monica

2013...you already know artist like that would never be on the top charts outside of Usher.

Yep and those R&B cats stayed getting p*ssy.

It's like R&B cats back in the day weren't afraid to say I make music FOR WOMEN and why not? They got lots of p*ssy for it they didn't give a shyt about nikkas getting mad over it. Now a days lots (not all) would rather make music for nikkas and not women b/c of being afraid of being too soft.

What they don't realize is a ladies man gets women and OTHER nikkas women too cause they got that smooth game. A lot of young dudes today don't know about that smooth game that'll make a woman drop her panties.
