That might be a big reason why. By the time their album after Murda Muzik came out you could argue that Havoc was rapping better than Prodigy was.

If you listen to some songs with both Hav and P on them when they were in their musical prime and listen to the differences in verses, hopefully you can tell. Just check a few of these out.

Prodigy has the first and 3rd verses. The 3rd verse he totally blacks out.

Prodigy has the 2nd verse on here and it really showcases what made him so special

:whoo:Yea he murked it

Havoc's the DJ, and Prodigy's the rapper ala Will and Jazz.

Also you got to factor in:

  • Prodigy came off as the east coast Pac (well known family members in the business, still living in poverty, started with the "arts", rapping street and conscious topics)
  • Always was the mouth piece
  • Had a better discography
  • Well known to hip hop heads
Its the case of rapping duos :francis: . Most people know Phonte of Little Brother, despite the fact that Big Pooh had the better discography. Its just human nature.

What also kinda screwed Hav was not putting himself out there during the Early 2000s. He got lucky with Why.

P did say that Hav needed to do more beats for artists outside of their circle(Mega, IM3, Noyd, etc)

The man behind the boards is usually one getting paid.

Imagine the publishing checks from Shook Ones

Hav just wants to stay out the way and that’s understandable. I’d rather him to be fukking thots than to be caught up in industry drama.

Its crazy that in 2015....twin gambino might be making the hottest music out the whole infamous collective..

I wish he had gotten half the push big noyd did

Noyd didn’t even get a push…

Dude signed with Tommy Boy for solo deal instead of growing with the Mobb.

He should have went with Loud Records at least. That was a perfect label for him.

On the contrary,Big Twins does has a slept on catalog. His debut album wasn’t bad. Sid Roams and Alchemist along with others definitely came through.

I felt P’s pain when they did this song
:demonic::demonic:

It was wise of him to have remained cool with P rather than use and abuse the guy.

Ty Nitty not so much.

there was a short window -- somewhere between "you aint a killa freestyle (97)", and "gun love"/"keep it thoro (99/2000)" -- where prodigy had a legit argument as the best rap nikka in nyc. havoc was never on that level. and he never spread his sound around enough to crossover or expand his audience.

the irony imo... when prodigy fell off a bit on the later mobb deep albums, havoc leveled up and was CARRYING that nikka rhyme-wise. hav was the MVP on infamy and amerikkkaz nightmare. but at their best, prodigy was always on a different level. arguably the greatest opening line spitter in hip hop history.

Rappers are more celebrated than producers

especially if you're better at them when it comes to rapping in a Duo

I'm contemplating going to the MOBB DEEP concert in London early next year, but knowing it's just going to be Havoc :patrice:.

Crowd did go crazy at the NAS concert when Green Lantern spun Shook ones though :banderas:
