To avoid being repetitive, he does have catchy melodies and the fact that he's versatile with his production in that he can weave through modern pop and trap works well for him...but I was actually thinking more into how he managed to get so big while driving with my son.

My son's 4. My mom's 73. They both know at least a song or two by Post Malone because they sing to themselves. I usually know something is a definite mega-hit when it reaches either of them. My mom randomly sings the hook "Congratulations" and my toddler sings "Sunflower", both are Post Malone songs... :ld:

The other day, I'm driving with my kid and I'm going through the radio. A song comes on and I don't remember what it was, but I changed it because I knew it was a bit dirty and I didn't want my little dude repeating wild shyt at school. When I switched it, "Circles" by Post Malone was on....and I left it because I know that song's pretty clean and harmless. Kind of dawned on me then, a lot of songs become huge because you can play them around your kids...and it bumps across demographics. You got poppy ballads featuring 21 Savage, Young Thug, Dababy, Swae Lee, and Quavo so it's on all stations. Smart move.

Dude's doing sing-songy tunes about heartbreak and relationships and it's stuff that can played at school or around older people, so it rides. Concert comes around and kids ask their parents for tix....well, sure...why not? As far as they know, it's the odd-looking guy from "Goodbyes" and "Better Now" and Rockin' New Year, etc.... :yeshrug:

At my son's school damn near every kid was singing along to his music.l..I think it was the collabo with juice world. . These are 3rd graders b shyt was crazy. Felt like I was at a concert.

More authentic kid rock with better ties to the rap world

lmao what? Kid Rock came up in the underground rap scene in Detroit, and grinded shyt out until he blew up. Say what you will about his racist Trump loving ass but let's not rewrite history...he paid his dues. Post Malone is a failed folk artist who turned into a meme/troll content creator, who then turned into a rap artist.

Barely had any views before he started "rapping." Just like Iggy, he failed in one genre and switched to another where his whiteness offered him more visibility. Because as you see there's nothing really "there" for him as a folk/acoustic artist.

I'm not saying PM is racist or anything of the sort. I'm just saying he saw a lane and took it. Good for him. But let's not forget this dude walked into hip hop and immediately started talking shyt about it. Look up his comments on lyricism in rap.
