Why is it so Difficult for Big Men to Replicate Kareem's Hook-Shot?

It's definitely not a great analogy...but at the same time, I think there is more to the sky hook than what coaching can deliver

There's a reason he's really the only player to master it

I didnt say McGee was defensively far from anything. McGee has potential to be a defensive player of the year type of player.

But offensively, its not anywhere there. And you dont learn new skills as you age, you can only refine and hone what you have. McGee shot a hook shot off the top of the backboard a few times over in his career, and he is an idiot.

Kareem was playing that way since he was a kid, and refined and honed his game over the years. Dudes dont just wake up and learn how to play a certain way. It doesnt work like that in the NBA. You need to have a base to start from at the very least, and McGee doesnt even have that.

And changing your BBall IQ is not something that can be fixed. Again, this is stuff you learn from an early age in playing the sport. McGee lacks fundamental stuff.

And I can give a rats ass what Lithgow says.

We agree here, mostly.

I don't think his base is that bad actually, I think he can develop a solid play style under the right coach. The kid is 23 years old, not 29. He can be molded, will he be? I don't know but let's not act like players older than him haven't been able to add nuance to their respective games and ad new skills to their repertoire.

But I'm digressing, Kareem's sky hook can't really be replicated at the same level, no one has come close and I don't know if one ever will.

Karl will help Javale refocus his energy and master what he already can do butt Javale wont learn more than he already has in his arsenal.

I'd be perfectly fine with that. if McGee can give this kind of production on a consistent basis:

the Nuggets are in great shape.

Boardwalk and Park Place
no doubt

:what:

it would work in era, the shot is unstoppable. Its just hard to learn

I'm talking about the shot in general. The defense today is much better and the players are more athletic. You would have to be a physically gifted to pull it off consistently. Let's not forget Kareem was 7'2" with long arms.

Whats amazing is thats Kareem at 40 and thats a Young Hakeem not able to do anything against shot.. Its Unstoppable at Kareems Level

And that Wilt Block was Goal Tending on the second shot.. Not sure if they have Goaltending rules to that extent back then, but thats 2 points in todays game :mjpls:

If howard had this shot but he doesn't have a shot at all!!
Amazing that such a limited player is the best center the game today.

90s was the GOAT era for elite centers (Hakeem, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, Zo, Deke, Daugherty, Willis, etc) :smh:
