but it's the accent of a non-native speaker

to do what you want , you really need to have people speaking their native language with subtitles. and they do that in Game of Thrones at some points, as well as trying to simulate various 'foriegn' accents

1. English actors are known to have more flexibility with their accents.


2. many of these shows are based in old English, Scottish or Welsh tradition, culture and or norms. Makes no sense to have a show about a medieval setting and have anything other than a french, italian, german or english accent as other places in the world were not participants in that culture.

3. The Queen's SOUNDS older to the rest of the world, and not to mention majority of the english the rest of the world speaks is based in the Queen's and not American english until recently.
