"We" aren't shunning anything. Most Hip-Hop/RnB stations that cater to young people are owned by corporations with white people in charge, and they tell the stations what to play. That is why you hear the same trash every hour.

I've said it before, there at least to be 35% Positive/Feel Good/Conscious Music on the airwaves.........now its quite literally ALL materialism/debauchery/violence.

Notice, I didn't say those things didn't have a place in music, but it has literally defined the sound of urban hip hop music on the radio......which is unfortunate.....

You right...this partially being pushed on us.....like high fructose corn syrup, GMO food, and steroided chicken..........................its easy to make and you get the most bang for your buck......

I listen to the pop station to sometimes, and there are actually some decent songs in there. Its not conscious music even if its happy, you will not get anything deeper than bubblegum there too.

I am not black person, but when listen to old jazz funk records from the 70s. I can tell the race the artists right way.

Like that "Peg" song by steely dan. I am not a big fan of steely dan, but I was forced to hear it a bunch of times due to one of my old jobs. I could tell that the bass player and the keyboardist were black and I saw video on vh1 about the making of "peg". Sure enough, they were black.

There is a lose, but technically superior sound that comes from black artist in those old days and definite groove whether it be funk musicians or bebop jazz.

it's sad to see that missing today, but it's missing from music worldwide.

EDM and Rap rule now. And everything is made on a midi grid. A Growing amount of people don't even use a midi controller--just a qwerty keyboard and a mouse.

Most vocalists are corrected with autotune, and we just accept it.

White kids don't play guitar anymore either.

Flo Rida, Pittbull, Jason Derulo, etc appeals to the lowest common denominator. Black people are too advanced musically to enjoy that trash.

No. Bobby SchMURDA, Young Thug and songs like Im In Love With the Coco appeals to the lowest common denominator. Did u even listen to the song in the OP? Would you rather your kid hearing a song about cooking up cocaine and murder?

Urban music caters to specific demographics, specifically teens to young adults. That demographic is predominantly interested in a small amount of things: turn up party tracks, trap, and the occasional r&b record. That's it.

The interesting thing about radio is that playlists are determined sort of like Nielsen TV ratings: they get a handful of people in a desired demographic, give them some songs to listen to, and determine what rates the highest. If someone is skipping a song it means that the song is likely to be skipped on the radio (ie someone turning the station).

This is a chicken and egg type discussion. Does urban radio only play trap because people want to hear trap, or does urban radio only play trap because people have been conditioned to like/expect trap? This has nothing to do with demons or evil Jews, it's about stone cold hard cash breh. Right now EDM sounds dominate pop radio, and trap dominates urban radio. Artists who mix them together tend to be popular - Drake, Kanye, etc.

My problem with this is that musical IQ is falling with young kids. I'll never forget being at a store late last year, and Kendrick Lamar's i came on the radio. Couple dudes were ahead of me in line, one black one white. The black dude complained that the song was corny and wasn't hard. The white dude was like "breh that's the Isley Brothers, how are they corny?"
:dead:

I wanted to slap that black dude right then and there lmao. How are you gonna clown an Isley Brothers sample as sounding white or weak....

This. And the fact that we dont know that this music is PURPOSELY being fed to us is the most frustrating part

:why: How does anyone take OP serious with this 6th grade observation on music? It's literally the same exact thread, over and over again.

And :bryan: for still listening to the radio in 2015, you have media literally EVERYWHERE these days and like most people rather have it spoon fed to you because you can't be bothered to hook up Pandora or spotify in your car within two minutes.

:patrice: Maybe my dad had a point about how some of these so called "pro-black" dudes, deep down really do loathe their own people...

Not all pro black people hate their own people. You have to judge them by what they say but the OP definitely fits that criteria.

To the OP's point however, it's just trends really. Black people in the past had motown, jazz, blues etc in how they consumed music. Now it's rap and whatever, hopefully this trend passes too eventually.
