I listen to alot of pop radio (getting more and more sick of urban radio) and they play alot of uptempo, feel good type music. It may sound a bit corny and cheesy to some but overall the music has a positive, feel good vibe. I NEVER hear anything positive on radio aimed at the black community. It seems like if the content isn't about drug use/selling, how h0es aren't loyal, blacks killing blacks, extreme materialism or promiscuity then it wont get play. Why is it that black artists that make positive, feel good music only get play on radio aimed at white audiences? For example, ive ONLY heard this song on pop radio:

Why do we shun music with positive vibes?

Urban music in mainstream lacks soul which is the key element in black music , they sound mad robotic and programmed shyt is disgusting . I feel like we need to dispose of FL studios and casio keyboards for a while and revert back to instruments like the saxophone , piano etc and vocals without excessive modifications to rekindle that feeling again and showcase the talents that's been dormant but not showing for a while .

Maybe your definition of feel good music is different from the next persons.

When i'm going through it listening to love songs doesn't motivate me or make me feel better. Rap music does.

If you don't get it you don't get it, but you can't just make a broad statement calling all rap music negative or detrimental. That is your view point.

i know black people who prefer music with a positive message. Music like that doesn't get club play cuz its not club music. Just like feel good pop songs don't get play in white clubs.

Well considering you make this exact same thread roughly 3-4 times per month, I guess the only conclusion we can draw is that black people are mentally inferior, and lack the emotional maturity and endowment of other races.

I mean its not like other races buy or listen to hip hop or anything...

And its not like this song isnt dominating urban radio, but who needs real life when we got a corny agenda to promote?

I doubt that you hit play on the song in the OP. Thats an example of a feel good type song. And its by a black artist. Why doesnt music with that type of energy get play on radio aimed at blacks? All music has a "spirit" to it. Most of the music i hear on black radio has an extremely dark, demonic vibe to it. Just listen to these instrumentals:

Cause it's souIless garbage. When they have some better shyt then people will listen more.

I agree.

Most songs on urban radio involve drug usage, cheating on your partner, being a trapper & trap queen(enjoy being that when you eventually get caught), and other non-positive bullshyt.

I get tired of that being the majority of music on urban radio.
Why do yall think that when a black artist DOES make a song with positive content it goes directly to white radio while urban radio avoids it? It disturbs me. Its like ONLY ignorance is allowed to be heard by the black youth. Check out these "positive" songs. I never hear them on black radio, yet they play on pop stations all the time. Why is that?

They dont view us in a positive light and they dont want us to hear positivity.

Oh, but let it be some "I been drankin. I been drankin" shyt, we can hear that all day. The more we stay drugged up and intoxicated, the more it fits their objective.

I RARELY heard Aloe Blacc's "I'm the Man" on urban radio. I heard it every hour on pop stations

It's funny you made this thread because I heard this song on the first episode of survivor's remorse and was thinking even though this song is mad dope, it would never make it to urban radio.

It could be 8 oclock in the morning and you turn on the radio and they playing these hoes ain't loyal :dahell:

The shyt is fukking demonic man. Thankfully I've found a couple decent positive/carefree hip-hop songs that I started listening to on the regular

It's not shunned, most people are just under the impression that they can't relate. It may be that you're just self-conscious about liking Top-40. You'll be surprised how many sistas listen to Taylor Swift, be out somewhere and the song come on and they start singing the lyrics.

This thread is ridiculous. What a crazy overstatement/generalization. Those tracks you posted don't get play on urban radio because white programmers don't put them on the playlist. Or maybe there are sonic/aesthetic reasons. Demonic though? Wow (same language many older white listeners used to describe R & B music in the 1950s. I don't know if you're white or not, but its funny that you used that descriptor).

Nevertheless, what you hear on whatever you call urban radio does't comprise the totality of Black musical consumption. Black folk are consuming "feel good" music. Go to a block party, dance, wedding, etc and you'll see it. Damn. With all the crap going on in our society, you think this is a Root-worthy thread?
