The money isn't there here in the states. If they can have an American league that is paying like the NBA or NFL black folks will play. Only reason that blacks stop boxing and playing baseball was the increase in salaries and exposure in the NFL and NBA. Plus the NFL began letting blacks play positions like safety, middle LB, OL and even QB. This really changed the game where more kids began to go to football and basketball.

With all the push the NFL is attempting to make in Europe...the only real way soccer would explode in the States is if a major city on the east coast had a team in the Premier League. Probably logistically impossible, but you need a team that competes in the bigs.

No football culture in America. When you travel through any European city it's nothing but kids playing football, where I grew up there was mini football pitches all over the inner city. And if we weren't in the pitch we where kicking a football against a wall, playing keepy up games or something.

It's all about basketball and American football in the states, so naturally all the best athletes play that.

The reason you go into soccer is because there are so many places to play and make money. But if you're elite, you'll make more as an NBA player. Every NBA all star/borderline all star makes more money than every soccer player but four or so biggest.

The AVERAGE salary for the top 5 leagues in Europe is like $2m USD. It's on par with American sports and our population dwarfs the countries I'm referring to.
