Why hasn't a black kid from the US taken over soccer yet?

It ain't happening so don't argue about it

Soccer is not for the cool kids in the USA
I don't understand why some people are so bothered by the fact that Americans don't care about soccer in general.
We're not exactly offended that Europeans don't care about baseball or football either.

I know the US is a huge market, but soccer is doing just fine without us. The 1994 World Cup was supposed to change everything but it didn't happen... the hype before that competition was insane but Diana Ross' inaugural miskick was ominous:russ:

I think the overall level of talent/play in the US will need to rise for there to be truly dominant player on the same level as Europeans, South Americans and Africans.

A lot of US players that run shyt stateside come over here and just end up going back home, look at Altidore. Only US player I know playing in England atm is Yedlin.

These networks have been trying to shove this sh!t down our throats for years. It's just not going to happen until they increase scoring

Sure the game is popular for women but it will never crossover to the men's while the nfl, nba, and mlb are around

US needs a pro team that competes in La Liga or the Premier league. Will always been distant to the main four unless there's a legit professional team here.

The NBA median salary (non-stars) is actually higher than the Premier League's average salary... That's how big the gap is. Matthew Dellavedova almost makes as much as Gareth Bale now

:ohhh: I didn't know Gareth Bale was still in the EPL.

Gareth Bale's LA LIGA contract broke records when he transferred... in 2013. I think it's safe to say he WILL make more money when he re-up's. That's like me saying there's no reason Falcao makes more than Steph Curry. EVERYBODY knows he's getting a max.

The money is actually pretty good in China (where NBA flops go make millions)
Chinese CBA News, Rumors, Roster, Stats, Awards, Transactions, Depth Charts, Forums - RealGM

decent in Spain, Greece or Turkey basketball leagues.

That's actually really good money tbh.

Still though you've got guys like Gyan making 200k a week playing in the Middle East, guys like Scott brown are clearing 30k a week.

Even c*nts like Kevin McCann, who is my local parish priests nephew and plays for bloody Falkirk makes thousands every week.

Very easy to make good money as a football player and far more pro teams willing to pay you.

I know, that shyt will never catch on. The other sports are way too ingrained in American culture imo. It's like the nfl trying to force a team in London, it won't happen.

It would help if there was a US team that competed in the champions or something like that... it might help. People get into it for the world cup, but that's only every four years, it's like how people get into swimming or the 100 yard dash.

I think if our national team improves, and has some young exciting players, that will stoke US fan interest, they have to want to FOLLOW the sport, not just watch it.

The reason "a black kid from the us" hasn't taken over soccer yet, is because we don't push out best athletes into soccer, and every other country does. Simple answers for simple questions.

See the table above.
Bale makes $12mil a year now, Delly makes $10m... Mozgov makes more.

With all the push the NFL is attempting to make in Europe...the only real way soccer would explode in the States is if a major city on the east coast had a team in the Premier League. Probably logistically impossible, but you need a team that competes in the bigs.

I said it once, and I'll say it again:

America really only embraces sports they invent or dominate.

You're right. If I use common sense and tax Delly... IDK, 40%, then he makes $6m USD. If Bale takes home 12m pounds and I convert it to USD, he makes about 16m USD.

Maybe Delly wasn't the best example for on par? Do you have any NBA players making 25m? That would be a more accurate comparison in the real world.

Geez... Bale makes $12m before taxes (in dollars, not pounds). You don't even bother looking up. A scrub like Delly almost is making as much as a soccer star like him.

Messi and Ronaldo are outliers. No other soccer player makes more than $10m after taxes in Europe. Rooney is third highest-paid and only makes $13m before taxes (which are 45% in Britain).

Conley signed a 5-year, $153m contract. Kobe made $27m last season. Joe Johnson made $25m! Lebron made around $25m and is about to get over $30m.

And Spanish taxes are no joke either
