In my opinion, the sad reality is we as black folks are still dealing with the effects of slavery and colonialism. As a result, a lot of black folks have self hate, insecurities and low self esteem issues. Any opportunity to outwardly show they are of ‘value’ in society (flashy cars & jewellery etc) they’ll do it. Sadly having a white partner is seen as one of those

Me personally, when I was young I would mess with any girl I found attractive regardless of race but the more knowledge & experience I’ve got in this world I just can’t date outside my race. Smashing is a different story but to me Black women are by far the most attractive women in the world and age better than anyone else. Plus I can’t imagine dating someone you have to tip toe around race issues.

I'm going to guess that it's related to education, as in I bet the overwhelming amount of black people in interracial marriages have a B.A. or better. Even though schools have been integrated forever, on a number of campuses, black people in general are a minority. In graduate programs, that's probably even fewer.

On most campuses, unless you go out of your way to find black orgs, you're probably just dating whomever you're around, so whites and Asians, mostly.

That extends into the workplace post-college since workplaces are also grouped by educational attainment. Unless you go out of your way to date in the race, you're probably getting to know white and Asian people with mostly white and Asian friends. Most people still get married to the people around them even with the rise of dating apps.

The stuff y'all say about black folks from the suburbs is probably tilted most toward education now since the suburbs are integrated and white and Asian people with money are moving back into the cities.

That's my guess, anyway.

I would like to point out that while our population numbers is still low in the U.S., but the numbers have been slowly going up as shown in this site.

IIRC everyone, but white people has seen an increase in population in the U.S., however, when it came to us there wasn't a big increase in numbers. It was almost like they didn't want the general public to know we have been sitting on 14% for quite some time as other races numbers were displayed and shown continuous increase with each year, while our numbers "apparently" was still 13%.

Edit: Forgot to mention that we're closing in on reaching 15% as well, so possibly by the end of the decade, we might see ourselves reaching 16% or possibly 17%. They cannot continue to withhold this information forever, because sooner or later, people are going to start questioning.
