I agree with you 100% on the shytiness of his later music

but I think the responses in this thread tell you that what people enjoy/remember about his music is the sort of material he put out before the shiny suit gum-pop stuff. Not that he gets an "eternal pass", but when they remember back on the impact he made on the genre they'll remember the older stuff, not what his music career turned into.

Noone cares that he "sold out".
