the low end. southside chi
Nightcrawler hanging out with Cyclops and Jean as teenagers. They've never met Angel before the events of this film. Havok is older than Scott and was an X-man before him (the other way around in the comics). lots of other stuff.

However, Psylocke was :noah:
That's not a continuity problem. They're following what they've already established since first class

When it comes to Coli reviews, I'm on the fence. It's really a matter of opinion and some posters are reliable.

I liked the film. It had its flaws, but I can look past them. 7.5/10

When he got hit with building girders I was waiting for him to pull them out and go Super Sayain. That didn't happen, the credits started rolling... I was dumbfounded.

It was ok.

The problem is for comic fans like myself is that these writers/directors take great storylines from the comics and boil them down.

They did the same with Days of Future Past and X3 with Dark Phoenix

Most comic book movies do that though breh. Civil War wasn't a faithful adaptation either but that doesn't take points off of it in my book. these movies are going to be adaptations of comic storylines. The only question is do they stick the landing

Well in all fairness, storylines like the Civil War are very complicated and lengthy.

The origin of Apocalypse in the X Factor comics is really just like two issues...same with Day's of Future Past. The entire thing is two issues, making it very easy to stick to the original storyline.

Heck now that I think about it, the Xmen Cartoon did a phenomenal job doing DOFP (two 30 minute episodes) compared to the movie.

The first two X Men movies Imo are good films..especially the second one. The ones where they attempt to crush together classic storylines into two hours is where it goes south.

You're right about the cartoon but they also weren't adapting as much as they were just going for a straight up 1:1 comparison which the movies have never gone for. I don't mind them mashing stuff together if it works (days of future past) but when it doesn't (x3) i don't see it not working because it was too much for them rather that it didn't work because the writing and execution was just off. First Class adapted a couple x men storylines and made it work beautifully.

I thought DOFP compared to the actual book fell below average. It was entertaining...but the book is far more dramatic, shocking and attention grabbing. As long as you stick to some of the formula, it will come out ok. You really can't lose with it.

I felt the same about the Fantastic Four 2 Silver Surfer film...it's definitely imo one Marvel's greatest storylines...the genius of the storyline is already written. All you have to do is basically mimic it, and you're golden. But they even screwed that up in several ways by adding filler scenes and focusing on certain character developments that I thought were unnecessary.

All in all, I'm sure the millions of dollars that MCU and Fox spends on debating these things...I'm sure there's a mountain of politics to adapting it to the big screen. SO i'm probably just talking shyt in their eyes.

BTW what storyline did First Class follow?

the first class storyline from the original comics with a little bit of magneto origin thrown in.

And I guess my view is I don't compare the source material and the movie adaptation too much. As long as the characters are right then I'm good because I know if I were writing it, I'd take some liberties and put my own spin on things because I'd be bored to death writing a carbon copy
