Main points:
1. Housing isn't treated like an investment. Houses usually don't last past 30 years. Newer houses are built to replace the old ones.
2. High inheritance tax so no point in trying to pass it down when 50% of its value is taken by taxes
3. Less bureaucratic red tape.
4. No suburbs. Their zoning laws are generally mixed use and relaxed regulation on housing appearance and density.
5. No NIMBY-ism. The local government decides what gets built and where because the focus is on housing as many people as possible.

It's not mentioned explicitly in the video, but there's more of a focus on public transportation as well. You can visibly see in the video that there aren't a lot of huge strip malls with parking lots or massive multi-lane high ways. You're seeing narrower roads so less cars can fit on the road.

Cause the Japanese conveniently house themselves in areas that allow them to be as long as they don't complain and just comply.
I mean there is deeper economical answers behind it, but the homeless there from what I've seen are allowed to just be just as long as they don't make themselves a nuisance or occupy areas that are high tourist/business/traffic.
You don't got a house?
Go find a cyber cafe that let you sleep in a cubicle just as long as you can make the rent.
You disabled, old/drunk and you can't work or get by doing menial jobs?
Find a tent city or train station where they allow you for a certain period of time and keep it pushing.

Singapore as well. They made it work for a heterogenous population mixed with different ethnicities and religions as well.

There is actually a quota to make sure they're being diverse that they honor
It's basically ran mathematically like a CPU and you see how efficient your CPU runs.
Singapore's current PM is a Computer Scientist and actually has a pretty well-known solution to a hard problem Leetcoders are familiar with.
Those are the brains they elect - the guy has been re-elected for nearly 20 years.

The result? Anybody who claims Singapore as a home basically has a home.

In contrast:

We keep voting in shyt leadership.
Can't get good leadership in for a long time without voting against our own interest.
Our "good" leadership lets crap in to stifle everything.

Bottom line:
Our leadership sold us out. This is a problem at the very top.

These people fukking suck compared to who runs other countries:

The big question:

How come a country can get 60+ years of consistently terrific leadership and we can't get 5?

Housing shouldn’t be an investment at all. It’s as stupid as a NFT.

Housing should also be 100% percent controlled by the government minus wealthy areas I guess. But if you work at 75K job a studio apartment shouldn’t be the only thing you can qualify for

I assume you don't own a home or any property?
