I actually agree...this part of the story is to propel Jey as a heroic Babyface overcoming the challenges, and for Jimmy to stay close to solo and Roman. Everyone wins in this case. Even after a screw job loss, Jey can pivot away from the bloodline as a solo, and challenge for mid card titles and be a threat at royal rumble or EC.

He won't win, but he'll stand on his own 2 feet and bee a legit solo.

But Roman isn’t losing yet. They haven’t told Solo’s portion of this story yet which is obviously coming. They’ve hinted at it a hundred times already
