Is this figure documented anywhere, or is this your opinion?

I can't recall where I seen it but combat jack said it during a podcast

N.O.R.E
de La Soul
tribe
shoot even taylor swift got the same contract

diddy could not change it if he could

diddy is the label owner not the record company owner if that make sense

look at it this way ...kanye contract says he can never retire

thats from universal not def jam and dame jay and biggs

when
112
carl thomas
faith
black rob
mase stop selling

where is diddiy gonna get the money from to push the music ....if you expect diddy to go in his own pocket to push a low selling act you crazy

have thought the same thing but i dont think its diddy directly
look at Loon, he was running a drug op

shyne was a hot headed gun man tryin to be gangsta in a packed club

G dep killed someone way before he met puffy , he signed and made some money and turned into a PCP head and turned himself in cause he was having demonic dreams and couldn take it no more

Craig Mack and mase most likely saw some hardcore gay shyt and said fuk this, also mase got run out of harlem but is still around

Biggie death still a mystry even tho all the evidence is there but he did always rap about death so who knows if he spoke that shyt into life

puffy life is still weird but you cant deny some of the guys already had problems that rap music just fueled , even if puff is a demonic phag , he did do some good :yeshrug:

Never seen, never heard, never happened, never occurred
Now picture me flying 10,000 feet above the sea
Popping bubbly, you'd love to be me
Now picture the servants in the cabin with the sweetest massage
Picture having ice and only wanna speak to God
Picture your dreams being shattered and your cream being lavished
At the same time, tell me what you think matters
Picture all the money that I've gotten off tours
Now picture me plotting for more, picture this nikka

This is the reason why I’m curious about the contract, and why none of the artists appear to read before they sign.
These guys are wrong puff gives out bad deals that end up leaving the artist with little to none ownership of their publishing, royalties, and masters for example he bought bigs publishing off him for 200k (mind you big at the time doesn’t understand the music buisness and what publishing even means) it’s smart on diddy behalf but still fukked up , he owned the lox’s publishing even after they left bad boy and he gets paid everytime they drop albums leaving them with hardly anything , don’t forget he still owns mase’s Publishing since mase has been like 19 and won’t let him buy it back. There’s ways of being fair with business but to take the majority of what artists make to feed their families that’s just fukked up and on top of that your black also

This supports my point early when I asked why nobody is reading these contracts before they sign.

All his executive and producer brehs are living and eating well though

Besides half of those things happening long after Puff, when you are associated with street guys, shyt will happen.

One could say the same shyt about any dude, Birdman, Master P, 50, Suge Knight and on.
Look at 50
Tony Yayo was locked up
Young buck gay
Prodigy locked up then died
Bang'em smurf locked up and deported
Mazardi Fox dead
His son hates him
Domination locked up

He didn't even give 360 contracts, shyt could've been a lot worse. He gave out standard contracts to grown men who had no leverage.

This is how they work, often they sign a lot of people who lose money for the label like a G-dep, Black Rob, Aasim, King Los, Red Cafe, Guerrila Zoe and maybe even Loon. But then that loss is offset by a Mase or Big. But people only tend to think about the few people that actually generate profit and not the larger portion that leads to a loss.

Right!! If you think about it all his artist were mostly under 25 , but I still stand by atleast structuring the deal to be fair he had that power and didn’t
