why does d'angelo constantly get over looked?

I thought he was overrated if anything. People were acting like he was a GOAT off albums that came out 20 yrs ago
Brown Sugar a classic to me but I think Voodoo is overrated and alot of the songs sound the same but that's another discussion i guess

If we count Voodoo as the true breakthrough, breh has two albums in 20 years. That ain't enough to truly keep your name in most conversations.

When Maxwell is outworking you, you might just have low output.

I love both D and Maxwell, but these cats take whole lifetimes between releases. Other than low-output, my only gripe with D is that I wish he would sing his words more clearly. I was struggling to understand him in his last album.
