Gil if you like the product, cool
I find it boring and repetitive with the spamming of 3 pointers and lack of defense. Most regular season games feel like a YMCA run
I enjoyed the product when it was a defensive slug fest. It looked and felt like the players played hard in the regular season.
Load management killed the soul of the game
That’s cool and all that, but a lot of folks didn’t. In fact, I’d go as far to say the majority don’t want it go back to it being a “defensive slug fest”; if it did go back to that, there’d be even more complaints. The game has only become as popular, on a global scale, because it steered away from that. Casual fans, which make up the greater majority of the NBA fanbase don’t want to watch that shyt.
Load management, to a certain degree, has actually protected the welfare of certain players, and given the breakneck speed of play and the mileage that players rack up (players need to cover more ground defensively than they’ve ever done before), it was inevitable something was going to give. The human body can only withstand so much without it breaking, and we want to see the best players on the floor and playing to the best of their capabilities, right? We don’t want them accumulating injuries and/or coasting through games to protect themselves, right?
That’s before we take into account the monetary value these players have to their respective franchises, and them needing to make sure their ‘bottom line’ doesn’t get fukked up. That’s the nature of the business, and without that growth, the game would’ve died a long time ago.
Besides all that, the game isn’t going to change anytime soon. Spamming 3s and what you perceive to be a “lack of defense” is going to remain probably at least until all your mental faculties are in working order.
The question remains - are you going to put yourself through this “God awful, boring” product for the rest of your days?
