Why do you hate on Melo

I hate Melo because he's a selfish thug

When Melo plays against inferior talent, he plays well enough to lead his team to win. He willed that Sryacuse team to a national title against weaker college players and is an important player on the US basketball team. However, when playing against teams with equal talent (like in the NBA), he seems unwilling to make the basketball adjustments necessary to execute a winning game plan. All the other major NBA stars seem able to do that. Plus, his lack of defensive intensity is annoying.

He makes winning plays but his issue is he is kind of an one trick pony. He is a offensive juggernaut but doesn't create offense for others and his defense while not terrible isn't that good especially team defense which matters a lot. The bigger issue is him and Amare don't fit together. If you had someone like Pau Millsap instead of Amare, it would be much better.

Shump
Melo
Millsap
Chandler



That could be contenders but

That won't win you a playoff series v. any Eastern team.

When you got a blackhole in Melo, you need defensive players and good fits around him. Kidd and Chandler is a great fit. Shump and Millsap are great fits because they can play whatever role it is as long as it's not asking for too much. But with Amare, he is a blackhole as well. Two blackholes don't work. Atlanta should be proof that you can't win trying to make players do what ain't them.

No. I believe that if Melo was in better shape (not neccesairily thinner) in theory he could be a better defender. But Melo doesn't have the will, desire or stamina (nh) to be even an average defender for a full game. He'd rather half ass it on D & jab step on offense for 15 seconds.

Dude's saving his energy & "athleticism" for scoring ONLY. He gives ZERO fukks about assists, defense, winning & other shyt like that.
