This is circular. You're basically saying something popular because it's popular. You don't think people have the ability to actually THINK about a subject and form their own opinion?? No, it's just that everyone's a sheep and are going with the herd. If that was the case then there would never be change, and everyone would remain bigots. You'd never have civil right movements for women and black people.

Because we were talking about homosexuality, and gay marriage is a civil rights issue.

But you're confusing popularity with the moral compass of a society. Are you saying that people aren't really morally against child soldiers, they just said so because it was popular?

It's one thing to speak on why more people become vocal in their protest, but it's another to consider why they agree with a position in the first place.

Put it this way.... do you honestly think you could get people to agree that child rape is a good act by using social media and trying to make it "hip"?

Not really. In America, the majority of people's moral compass has always been determined by trends and agendas, and it always has been.
