Why do we clean chicken, but not beef?

Let’s talk about washing rice
Depends what kind of rice and what you want the consistency to be. My girls part asian so we use a rice cooker; shell rinse the rice until the water runs clear. There will occasionally be small debris and stuff but I always assumed it was to get rid of the starch.

If I'm making beans I’ll rinse them before cooking. I've never washed chicken in my life. My dad does, his family does, I don't see the point. I will pat dry prior to marinating or anything though.

I dont thoroughly wash my chicken i just rinse it a little, helps get the seasonings to stick easier, lather olive oil to crisp the skin and bake/grill. I wash my potatoes, tomatoes, fruits and other types of produce though :manny:

Again, AGAIN, what is being discussed is not what you are talking about. What is being discussed is people taking chicken and running tap water over it in sinks, not wet brining, spreading bacteria.

Washing rice is crazy to me. Maybe when factories were unregulated. Maybe in the third world. Whats next washing grits, pasta, oats, quinoa, couscous?

My best guess is the bones, they're less likely in beef and thats really what winds up cleaned

I boil and grill chicken usually and other meat dishes so its properly safe to eat including the bones

I was initially surprised to have it suggested or to be flat out called white because of science, but then i remembered which site i am posting on and went back to normal.
