Thought about the World's Strongest Man competition when this thread was started. It actually aired this weekend.

I rarely if ever see any Polynesians competing, but I'd imagine if this ever became popular in that region that they would have some contenders.

I always tell this story talking about Polynesians, but there was a high school in Inglewood that sucked at football. Mostly Mexicans at that point. One year a new coach sees these Tongans walking around campus, there was maybe just 20 Tongan boys in the entire school of 2000 kids, but he gets most of them to join the football team. Some of them had come from a rugby background but I think most had never even played football before. They immediately take half the starting spots on the team - not just O-line and D-line but running back, linebackers, even the starting QB was this 245 pound mobile motherfukker. By their 2nd year on the team school went from 2-8 to 8-2 it was crazy how good they were. Every Tongan who came in was 30 lbs heavier than the guy he took his position from, one of the o-line had to have gone 330.

Up in the DFW there’s a heavy population of them in the HEB area. We used to play Euless Trinity in football and they used them dudes to perfection. There’s a vid of them playing Washington Bellevue back when Buda Baker was playing for em and the size of some of them dudes is just sick.
