I imagnie conveying his life is something no other rapper can effectively get across without actually being Jay-Z.
Which is of course the topic of the song.

Also if you're going to take that stance then no rapper is dope.

With that said I think people "hate" Jay-Z (the ones who irrationally dislike the guy) do so because they

most people I've met in real life that don't like Jay-Z are either kids who don't listen to lyrics and think Drake and Wayne are it or people who consider themselves "purists" and live the music...whatever that means.

Same reason people hate Floyd, or Tom Brady. Because they live the life most want and they are the best at their craft pretty much. Winners always get hate no matter what! If its not Jay it would be someone else.

true, but i think it's the lack of humility that people like Mayweather, and Jay-z, and even Ali to a certain degree possessed that turns a lot of people off. it's much much harder to hate someone who's humble than it is to hate someone who's constantly telling you how perfect and great and rich they are and all of that type of stuff. jay-z brags so much about how successful he is and how expensive his tastes are that when he does make something really dope and artistically merited it kind of comes off as inorganic and forced to some people.. his joints like "forever young" and "beach chair" are GREAT records to me, but at the same time it's kind of like , ha.

I agree to an extent....jay doesn't bring people down in interviews or on radio etc, he's just boastful in music like most rappers! Give fab or T.I all the money jay has and give them beyonce and we'd be hating on them.

I don't find jay z disrespectful outside his music infact he seems likeable and more mature than many hip hop artists.

Floyd tho comes across as an a$$hole but he also knows that and plays to it for publicity. We all need someone to hate on, in hip hop it's jay-z! In the nba its Kobe/lebron, nfl Brady/favre etc

Niccas hate on Hov because dude came in the game and did what he said he would. Take it! He made it all about the hustle & forgot about the music at one point.… You can hate on the way he got to the top but he was at one point very nice lyrically.
