Let's not forget there was a stigma of light skins preferring each other back in the day. There's the casual refrain of "looking like siblings" which deters some light skins, but the whole contrast thing is partly rooted in preventing a definitive color hierarchy in our community.

I heard of many reasons..

One thing that its 2017 so more interracial dating and dating across complexions are more acceptable nowadays or should I say less talked about.

Some like something different other than themselves.

Some blacks are embracing their black features more...i.e. wearing more natural hair, etc.

I heard some said darker black men may appear more masculine and lighter men appear more soft. I disagree with this but I read some feel this way. Like how some whites feel darker blacks appear more threatening...which is BS but whatever.

Some.light women may feel that darker black men would treat them better and value them more...another stupid saying I heard.

And maybe the light skinned woman may just like the personality and/or looks of the dark skinned man and have no complexes or issues.
