Beach Chair, Do You Wanna Ride, I Know, Fallin', Lost Ones, American Dreamin', even songs like A Star Is Born, New Day and Young Forever to a degree. That a little more recent for you?

You think any of those compare with shyt like D'Evils or Regrets? Only one I would say is Lost Ones. And in any case the overall quality of his albums has dropped. A song like "Sunshine" was an anomaly.... over time tracks like that went from anomalies to singles (Venus + Mars, Show Me What You Got etc.)

The funny thing is that the line you're using as a crutch was something he said in 2003. Fast forward to 2011 and he's the Illest Motherfukker Alive. It doesn't even sound like he's bytching much about his place in music. He feels now like he's solidified that to the point where he revels in self-indulgence, thus, making the music he wants to make.

And you miss the whole point. Dude said the line in 2003. He has the money now and is still dropping dumbed down albums. So the idea that he was "forced" to dumb down his music is a lie. He chose to do it, but still wants to be heralded as a dude who pushes boundaries. Why else would he feel the need to "remind us" of all the shyt he accomplished. What is he doing right now?

I think fans complain about it more than he does. Looking back on music, there aren't a lot of artists that at their zenith completely go left field from their comfort zone and succeed. In saying that, how far left do people want Jay-Z to go musically? From the looks of it, it just seems like people want Jay-Z to do music he already made but fits better with that fan's particular comfort zone.

Jay has already succeeded! Hes got the most #1 albums ever. He conquered the streets, the lyricists and the pop charts. He's worth half a billy. Bey Bey had his bay bay. So why the fukk is he still dropping focus group duds like BP3?
