CHICAGO
house music comes from disco. gay community wanted to keep disco alive, which evolved into house music. it appears there wasnt a big openly gay community in the south in the late 70s/ early 80s.

FOH

THE CHICAGO HOUSE MUSIC SCENE
(THE ORIGINAL HOUSE MUSIC SCENE)
HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH GAYS
NOR THE GAY COMMUNITY.

ONCE GAYS CAUGHT ON TO HOUSE,
BLACKS GOT OFF THAT WAVE
AND CACS CO OPTED.

Gays were always a part of the chicago scene that produced house music.

Family, Frankie Knuckles is the god of house, the Warehouse is the motherland of house, Frankie Knuckles was gay, the resident DJ at the Warehouse that gave it (and thus house as a whole it's sonic identity) and the Warehouse's heart was black and latino gays.

There is absolutely no dividing gay culture from house music.

Yes, a heavy amount of completely straight minorities moved onto and loved this music (just as they did disco which was gay as hell, too), but they didn't move on because of gays, they moved on because hip-hop changed everything. Just as house undercut the commercialized disco scene and became the true party sound of the streets, hip-hop did the same house.

Midwest/East Coast/Tx (Now in Canada)
electro was invented in NY and Cali.
Frank Ski brought proto-bass to Miami, and the south already embraced a NEW YORK BREAKBEAT/RHYTHM called "Drag Rap".
Oh, and brown beats for BOUNCE. New Orleans gayer than Chicago AND detroit.
The South had a VERY slow club culture development, and DooDoo Brown is a Bmore club song...national hood hit...they were bumping that in the south, too. It didn't hit because spin-offs did. Frank Ski was also a Bmore club pioneer.

Step y'all music history game up.

And to answer the question of the thread, I think you're looking at it wrong.

Electronic dance music took over at around the same time in different parts of this country and all had their own regional takes on it. House in Chicago, Techno in Detroit, the garage sound in New York, the electro stylings of The Egyptian Lover in LA, Miami Bass in Florida. All these regions started dancing to synthesized club beats but just did it a different way in the early 80's

house originated in Chicago. Detroit Newark New York were influenced by that

the south didn't embrace gogo like that, either.
More SLOW/"never heard of it" than "I don't like it"
nobody outside dc embarced gogo lmao
