It's honestly just not that easy to put together a super team...Teams just aren't giving up star players and star players just aren't leaving money on the table....

Let's be honest the Warriors wouldn't be a super team if they didn't hit on a lucky 2nd rd pick....The Spurs drafted an alltime goat during a season in which they were murederd by injuries and they hit on a ton of international picks over the years.

I'd say that if you got some luck, great scouts, and a good culture it's easier to build a winner thru a mixture of drafts/player development, free agency, and luck on a trade or two.

:skip:
They didn't play like it throughout the season, Wade was passed his prime and so was Bosh, bosh never looked as good as he did Toronto.

If you off name recognition then what actually happens on the court, then you can make that pass.

Thunder was more of a superteam with Harden, Durant, and Westbrook lmao

:dwillhuh: It's only one basketball you had Bron still putting up 27 and Wade 20+ and Bosh was still getting his....When you combine star talents you will rarely have one guy putting up 34 a night generally....

no he wasn't. The heat were irrelevant until lebron joined them.

They weren't a super team because they didn't have a rotation

every good NBA team has three core players

There was nothing super about this team and they didn't really dominate any opponent
Yeah...I see the agenda[/QUOTE]

The heat didn't have a team thats why.

Kobe was older in 2011 and Durant was still a younging. Beside LBJ, wade was the best player in the NBA

What makes a "super team" anyway? The number of big names on the team? The amount of talent loaded up on one team?

If we're just looking for "three HOF's on the same team", then there's been super teams forever.

The Russell-Heinsoln-Jones-Jones-Cousy-Ramsey-Havlicek Celtics
The Chamberlain-Gola-Arazin 76ers
The Chamberlain-Greer-Walker-Cunningham 76ers
The Havlicek-Cowen-White Celtics
The West-Chamberlain-Baylor Lakers
The Reed-DeBusschere-Bradley-Frazier Knicks
The Bird-McHale-Parish-Johnson Celtics
The Kareem-Magic-Worthy Lakers
The Thomas-Dumars-Rodman Pistons
The Olajuwon-Barkley-Drexler Rockets
The Jordan-Pippen-Rodman Bulls
The Shaq-Kobe-Malone-Payton Lakers
The Duncan-Parker-Ginobli Spurs
The Pierce-Garnett-Allen Celtics
The James-Wade-Bosh Heat
Heck...someday the Curry-Thompson-Green Warriors might be considered a "super-team"

I'm sure there's been others. Owners want to get the top talent on their team. Over the years, there's been different ways of doing that....it's happened before and it will happen again.

Do you not remember that team? Maybe it's just because I'm a big Blazer stan. Olajuwon, Drexler, and Barkley were three of the greatest stars in the NBA in the 1990s. It was a BIG deal when they teamed up. All three players had been the dominant star of a Finals team within the last 5 years, and Olajuwon/Drexler had won a Championship together just two years earlier before they added Barkley.

Hakeem was still 1st-Team All-NBA that year averaging 23-9-3-2-2. Drexler was an All-Star averaging 18-6-6-2. And Barkley was an All-Star averaging 19-14-5-1-1. That sure as hell is a "Super Team" at least as much as the Pierce-Garnett-Allen Celtics were.

And people forget how much success that team had. They started the season 21-2, won 57 games, beat the reigning WCF Sonics in the conference semis, then took the Jazz to 6 in the conference finals.

Yeah I remember them but I thought we were talking about teams with rings.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
The owners had a lockout and changed the cap rules because of the Miami big 3 (repeater tax, no full mid level if over the cap, no sign and trades with bird rights, etc.).

It is really hard to do unless you have vastly underpaid players or the owner has super deep pockets and don't care about giving up a grip on luxury tax.
this is the real answer...

add in that bron/wade/bosh was planned... they all had to sign the exact same length, and assure they would be unrestricted free agents the same year... then they had to trust a team to pick them all up and have cap room available that same year... and both the players and the team had to keep their word and make moves in advance for it to happen

that's not going to happen easily... take KD... what super team can he join that has the cap? now if him curry and klay planned this ahead of time, they'd all be taking less and warriors would have been cutting cap to make room

Give it time. I can see dudes like Paul George, Harden, Durant, Westbrook, Lillard etc teaming up if they don't get a ring soon.
