Because black artist have moved away from authentic original hip hop like back in the 90's.Tupac kept his lyrics revolutionary irregardless of how uncomfortable it made whites feel which explains why he was able to sell millions while at the same time putting fear in the hearts of whites with his lyrics. Unless your music makes whites uncomfortable, I'm not listening to it.

2pac had the PERFECT direction, therefore,I can't go backwards by listening to retarded rappers like lil Wayne or Two Chains. My standards are so high after listening to Tupac that I can't go lower. When hip-hop gets back to it's original form, then you'll see record sells go up but while they try to pander and fit into white society the record sells will go down like you see today.

2pac died broke

You gotta keep in mind the vast majority of these artists on that list have been in the game no less than 20 years. Furthermore, rock fans are typically middle aged and white, and they have a lot of money to burn. They spend millions of dollars on memorabilia, tickets, merchandise and music. We as African-Americans don't really support our elders to that extent, I mean even R. Kelly who is one of the greatest R and B acts of all times has been reduced to begging people to buy his stuff. The other thing is many of the Black stars who were famous in the 1980's got janked by the record industry and don't own their masters, which contributes heavily to an artists net worth.

With the exception of Dre, Beyonce, Hov, and Diddy why can't black artists enjoy this kind of widespread monetary success?
Well, there are more white musicians playing rock music and its sub-genres (hard rock, classic rock, southern rock, heavy metal, etc.)
Lenny Kratvitz, Prince, Darius Rucker, and others have had a number of rock hits (Prince being in the top 50).

  1. In the West, Black people are a minority, so you will make more money making "White" music than "Black" music.
  2. Prince is #9 on that list, OP. Don't tell me he ain't black.....
  3. Regarding the list, I have no Idea where OP got it from. He cites no sources or anything.
  4. Even If you exclude Dre, Hov, Bey and Diddy, OP (or the site he got it from) omitted a few "Urban" artists including Drake ($39.5 million), Pharrell ($32 million), Eminem ($31 million), Kanye ($22 million), Wiz ($21.5 million), Nicki ($21 million), Birdman ($18 million) Pitbull ($17 million), Weezy ($15 million), K.Dot ($12 million), J. Cole ($11 million), and Snoop ($10 million)

Here is the reason....

100% truth although it may be hard to hear.
We as African Americans love gimmicks and fads, whenever that wears out we move on to the next.

It was never like this back in the day, stevie, mj, whitney, Diana Ross, luther has careers that spandex across 2 decades that wasn't uncommon, even past their prime they could tour and have a lot of support,

This is how country artist stay big because people that love country always support country music whether it's in style or not.

With the current state of our people music is almost soley based on style an fad and trends...true music is not appreciated it's almost like the more talent you the least likely you are to succeed unless you become pop or have a gimmick.
We got a winner. This is exactly right. Every single black artist in damn near 20 years in my opinion has been a fukkin joke.
