Not jsut black actors, the Cac ones too get thrown to the bushes aswell. Its mainly because the British actors are better trained and allowed more creative freedom than their American counterparts are, in the overall training and development process. I'm going to hazard a guess and say that the American actors, see the only way to make yourself a career as an actor is to be on tv/films as alot of their training is camera based so it's geared towards that that. While the Brits do more stage/theatre training, where ad-libing, vocal projection and body language are keys to performing on the stage. i'd say that 95% of the British actors in American TV shows and films have some form of stage trainig, now how many of the American leads can you say that about?

Most people didn't even know Elba was British until they heard him speak in interviews and such.
Anyway, the thing is that many American actors (not just black actors) didn't study acting and really can't step outside their lane. Foreign actors (especially British actors) often tend to have a theater background, so they're more experienced with playing different characters and accents. Even so, you have guys like Don Cheadle and Jeffrey Wright who do have strong backgrounds in acting and it shows in their work, which is a lot more diverse than most black actors.

i dont get it, i really do not get it, its like i am the only one on the planet that isnt enamored by this guys acting.Yeah stringer bell was dope character and he pulled off the american accent well.Hell i even liked luther but as far as him being a good actor
and then there is that lesbian looking micheal b jordan its like everyone from wire gets overated to high heaven. Heads swore tristan wild (micheal lee) was going to be the next big thing the he does 90210 and gets exposed

Why would a Black actor do an Italian, Russian, Australian, Hispanic, German, Jewish etc accent if the vast majority of people from those places are not black? Seems like an odd casting choice

sorry didn't know there was such thing as a jewish accent.
americans cant do any accent where alot of black people live, jamaica, english, welsh, france. etc
