Why aren’t there many programs for black boys/men as there are for black girls/women?

I've seen more programs geared toward black boys than black girls.

The whole National 100 Black Men organization is geared toward black male mentorship.

Including the Collegiate 100

And the Emerging 100

In my city, we have a whole high school, Urban Prep, geared toward the education of black boys. There isn't an all black girls school equivalent.

Every black fraternity has a program dedicated to black male mentorship.

Lots of PWIs have Black Male Initiatives (BMIs)

There are countless programs for black boys and young men.

But you're not the only one on the Coli that doesn't seem to realize that they are out there.

Maybe you should start a follow-up thread asking folks to post any programs they know so we can keep an official running total and spread the word.

In reality, there's a lot more programs for Black boys than Black girls. Y'all gotta actually be in the communities instead of just looking at TV shyt.

I don't watch TV and can tell you anit that many programs for black men . It some but not enough and it dosent have the backing like a Michelle Obama with black girls rock etc .

I've never bought into the notion that Black women are out to get "us", and I never will.
.
Rosario Dawson is black now? The more relevant qualifier was the "feminist advocates" part, which is what i focused on.

The fact that you characterized them as "black women" is very weird. Like bw have this massive amount of resources they're just choosing not to share... with their own sons. :skip:

Individuals out in the public will support agendas and issues that they feel strong about, but those individuals only speak for themselves. The men in our family place a strong emphasis on keeping the young men on the straight path because we know the obstacles that they will encounter. Doesn't mean we care less for female relatives.

I see women standing up for or trying to fund programs for young women as being along the same lines.
She's not saying that black women are out to get us, she's pointing out how white supremacy focuses on one group to purposely divide us.
Feminist advocate and fund ot of this stuff. They dont care about black boys; they target them . They even tried to take my brothers keeper from us too.
Alice Walker and Rosario Dawson Want Women of Color Included in My Brother’s Keeper
Doesn't My Brother's Keeper target all young men of color? If so then that's not really for us either.

The direct implication of this thread was programs for Black children created by Black adults.

I just want to repeat, we shouldn't be separating the genders. We simply do not have the societal structure necessary. Everybody else who separates like that does it in a heavily religious context where marriage is greatly encouraged and fostered. We do not.

What we'll end up with is two groups of well educated black children who don't know each other. They'll go to good schools already prepared to date out, eventually marrying out, and negating the entire point of the exercise by handing their generational wealth to future caucasians.

Yeah, when i was working corporate security, i witnessed many tech events geared towards Asians (Indians inc) & young Black girls. Black men/kids were not a priority

I agree.

I do see a slight pander within media or even the presidency to black women which can create that divide amongst ourselves.

Because the woman is not a threat to anyone or anything but their damnselves, and their children of course. And thats not an insult, its just a fact. Its in a womans dna to go along to get along, to be adaptable. They're followers by nature. These programs for black women are the equivalent of if you've ever been on like a cruise ship and you let the children play on the steering wheel at the front of the boat and you just play along with their little fantasy that they're actually steering the ship to not burst their little bubble with reality.

The man always has, and always will be the threat to any status quo. What sense would it make to build him up when you have agendas to push?...and this goes for any race honestly
