Why aren’t there many programs for black boys/men as there are for black girls/women?

I always see program after program for black girls whether it’s mentoring, funding, coding or tech. But when it comes to focus on the black boys, they aren’t targeted as much.

Like I’ve only heard My Brothers Keeper, Know Your Rights and a few others, but for celebrities that are women, they give a plethora of options to black girls.

The younger black men, especially coming from the new generation need more guidance and assistance.

Meaning no disrespect, the paranoia has got to stop. Not everybody is out to get "us".
:patrice: Uh, yeah, they kinda are.

The answer to op's question had already been partially answered: white supremacy pitting us against each other. (Which is how we end up with so much "these nikkas aint on my level" dumb shyt)

The solution, of course, is for bm to start their own orgs. No one can educate your children better than you.

Sn: i know the sentiment is there, but i wouldn't suggest all boys. If wp are trying to divide us, why would a black org reinforce that division?

There are some if you look hard enough. The CUNY system out here has a massive Black Male initiative program that not only gets underrepresented black men passed high school but into college (At CUNY of course), helps with retention and gives amazing career advice afterwards.

There are others also.

I've never bought into the notion that Black women are out to get "us", and I never will.

Individuals out in the public will support agendas and issues that they feel strong about, but those individuals only speak for themselves. The men in our family place a strong emphasis on keeping the young men on the straight path because we know the obstacles that they will encounter. Doesn't mean we care less for female relatives.

I see women standing up for or trying to fund programs for young women as being along the same lines.

Two things.

For one, there are existing default programs for black men in the US. They're called prisons. Two, any program specifically for black men that deviates away from that default is instantly labelled as anti-woman, as though it's a zero-sum game where focus on men somehow negates women's achievements. And once it's tagged anti-woman, inevitably some black women will tag along with the same perceived-womanhood-solidarity intentions that had them signing on to feminism in the first place. Any fool can tell what that was (supposedly) intended to be isn't what it is; the zealots have taken over.

Et voila.
