Why are Japanese Developers so much better than Western developers at combat?

Western games are better at shooters while Japanese games are superior in mechanics for other genres such as platformers, fighters and action games.

Suckerpunch did an excellent job with Ghost of Tsushima combat. You need skills to beat online Platinum and Nightmare difficulty and a great team.

In General Japan is way better at combat though

Japanese games are usually more polished based on what I have experienced. Western games get an advantage in story for us since it is made to appeal to us rather then their target audience. Writing is much more superior. (Obviously Japanese people lol). Honestly with JRPG's you play more for the characters then the story as weird as that sounds.

I dont think either is better, i like dmc but i don’t hold it over western games like arkham or gow. It’s different styles, thats all it is. Most people here just prefer the flashy combo’s over the deliberate reaction based combat
