Before the concept of race people only identified by nationality.

If you or anybody doesnt believe in the concept of race then just say that.

I am looking at it as some people choosing not to claim their race and just choosing to claim their nationality for many reasons. One reason with some of them trying to distance themselves from AAs.

The bolded is basically what im trying to say in the first place. Black is associated with American black culture because we were the ones to embrace it in a way that no other diasporans have

What Im saying is just that some black people in the world and not just us AAs believe in the concept of race and acknowledge themselves as black.

Not to mention many white people all over the globe believe in the concept of race as well and even unite based on race.

I believe in the African diaspora.

But theres no point in looking at "black" in the modern age as everyone from Alabama to Kingston. When black is normally referencing a specific American culture/ethnicity. You see it done all the time on this board

Only you and various other black people deny that race exists while many whites embrace it and use it to unite.

All of that distancing each other based on denying race and only embracing nationality will just leave us scattered and weak if racist whites decide to racially unite globablly to destroy us.

Its more accurate to say we are all African tribes/descent not black in the modern sense

The average Dominican, at least from what I've seen in New York, would not be perceived as black.

Most Dominicans came to the US in the middle of the crack era in NYC when NYC hoods were basically hell on earth. Insane amounts of violence, drug dealing, drug abuse, and prostitution, grossly impoverished & underdeveloped areas.

It just so happened that many of the people Dominican immigrants saw participating in these acts were african american. Most Dominican immigrants have no real knowledge of American history outside of George Washington, Bill of Right, & July 4th. They have no true understanding of white supremacy and how that the American government made a concerted effort to keep black people in America as a permanent underclass. As a result Dominicans associated those crimes with black instead of poor/

Tie that in with the white media brainwashing and you have a signifant amount of the Dominican immigrants who view Black Americans through a white supremacist lens

I get all that. But when referencing black people,black culture acting "black" etc we're often talking about a specific people

Black is heavily associated with American black so I can see why a Dominican,nigerian,ethiopian etc doesn't identify with it.
