Thank you for speaking the real on Chicago culture. I've never been but I've been told exactly what you guys have said for about a decade. People, mostly online, always hold it against Cali that "Chi gangs more organized", and even outright lie or exaggerate within threads like these, talling about the nations outside Chicago being organized, something I can counter thru firsthand experience...
In 2010 I shared a cell for about a month with a 47-year old GD from Chicago, in North Carolina. He did a 13-year murder bid in Illinois from '79 to '92 and we chopped a lot of politics at that time, being he was from Illinois and I'd never been, I was from California and he'd never been, etc. One of the things he spoke on was not just how lawless Chi orgs were at the time ('10) compared to when he grew up, but how much shyt changed from when he grew up to when he got out in the 90s...
I've known other Chi dudes but spending a month in the same box with him was a good education, that was basically when I learned there are some similarities between the ways both Cali and Chi demo...and his impression of OT cats banging Chi nations was definitely not that they were "organized" lol, unlike what cats have said up thread, but he was more or less retired at that time. He'd lived in other places before coming to NC and mostly didn't talk to the Folks unless he was in jail...
This ain't shading you fam, because I've honestly seen most people on this side believe this, but this comment proves you haven't been around LA hoods or around legit LA nikkas...
It boggles my mind that people still believe this about LA especially in the technology era with all of LA's history known...

The popularity of those Chicago gangs was in the 60s and 70s due to some of them aligning with civil rights movements. When the B's and C's got national attention in the late 80's tho... our media had jumped to a whole other level of sensationalism focused on crime, the civil rights movement was dead, etc. there were big cultural changes in the timeline as to why B's and C's were getting national attention, in the same way Chicago gangs have had a focus put on them in relation to crime in this country in present times.
