I'm not taking a shot but every time I meet black people living in Canada, their energy is always weird and I can't really fit them somewhere. You know like a square that can't fit anywhere.Perhaps it's because they're eccentric.

I met one again today and I just don't know what to say. But it might be me, though. Or is there anyone else who feels the same way?

Not weird. Just different.

Put it this way they same way you find them weird, other black people find you, as an american, weird. It's just being different. Different environments. Different history. Different people. I dont see what's so hard to understand/accept.

There is no "standard black" behavior that we all should follow.

American blacks say this about uk blacks too. I like uk blacks but I heard it before.

It's a different energy for black people in different places I came to accept that

Exactly this

Most black people in Canada live in Montreal/Vancouver/Calgary/Edmonton/Toronto and some more in Nova Scotia (where there is a rich history of black settlers arriving to Canada via the underground railway), however, most live in Toronto and Montreal.

Almost all of us are children of immigrants from West/East Africa and the Caribbean.

Most of our parents came here in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. So it's still all relatively new that we've had a "black" community in Canada.

I got family in NYC and I know a lot of folks in NYC have the same history in terms of being children of immigrant parents from the Caribbean but it's not like this throughout the U.S. I find that there are a lot more East and West African immigrants who have settled in different states throughout the U.S but not so much those from the Caribbean who choose to emigrate to NYC or Miami where there are more Caribbean enclaves.

That's all there is to it. We all still BLACK and still face the same issues and bullshyt throughout the world, the only difference is the history and environment you settle in that helps shape you.

Let's face it, we've internalized the stereotypes against us from slavery and use them to police each other.

OP ain't slick. He thinks Canadian blacks aren't "black enough". :stopitslime: :snoop:

On a positive note, shoutout to my Canadian brehs. :salute:
