shyt I be watching scary movies hoping a monster get my ass. like these bills nikka! kill me now ghost!

But I watched the wailing the other day I was sort of spooked.

But at a certain age you stop being scared. But I do enjoy watching horror movies still.

It’s just murder porn now:francis:

I remember the old Halloween joints, specifically the first two films from John Carpenter, and there was a suspense element. Rob Zombie's versions were just gore. The scene in the old joints where old girl got in the car and was wondering why the front windshield was steamed up from the inside :ohhh: That's the way a director is supposed to set up something horrific. Creative sh!t.

Same with the difference between Alien and Aliens. The first one was a sci-fi/horror film. That sh!t was suspenseful. The second one while a good film in it's own right, was an action film. Even with Prometheus, Alien Covenant, I find myself questioning where's the suspense?

Because of this influx of psychological horror or torture porn horror. After watching these year after year, gets very routine; you know the direction of the movie. The shock value is gone. Then they saturate the market with the remakes and franchises (Saw, Hostel, Friday the 13th), case in point the new Saw 35 came out last year. Last decent movie that I saw was Sinister b/c it was an unexpected ending.

Don't get me started on the overuse of "jump scares", demonic possession, haunted houses.. etc. blahhhhh.

Conjuring and insidious have been doing a good job with horror films

They're solid because they're the only films that understand how to properly use jump scares and pump fakes, but even those series vary in quality from film to film.

The best mainstream horror movie in a while was the "Ouija: Origins of Evil" movie, the only reason people slept on it was because the original "Ouija" movie it was a sequel to was trash.

So far everything else from the director of OoE, Mike Flanagan, has been A-1.

I heard older horror movies were tools used to discourage pre marital sex:jbhmm:

Jason - Friday the 13th, his mom spazzed out and killed everyone of the camp counselors as revenge because her son drowned while the camp leaders were having sex and not paying attention.
