It's wild because people talk about long line at hospitals and doctors in Canada as if going to the hospital NOW isn't a crazy ass ordeal that takes all day. Universal Health Care in America is one of those issues that literally shouldn't be political at all. And the people who ride hard for it not being a thing are the people who need it most. Propaganda is wild.
Btw if more people went to the doctor, there would BE more doctors offsetting the difference. There would STILL be private practice, local health clinics and other smaller medical facilities that take the burden OFF of ERs.
I think the worst thing about America's ideology is that most American's never been anywhere else BUT America. Its a sad by-product of the size/environmental variation of the country. If you live in the UK and want to hit the beaches, you're more likely to go to Jamaica or Ibiza than anywhere in the UK. And travel among the EU is easy as all hell. But in the states, you can damn near visit any climate you want and never leave the US. Therefore, people never learn the advantages and disadvantages of other countries systems.
Lastly, people think the US is rich now...imagine if we actually taxed our corporations at even a fraction of the rate we tax citizens. The "who's gonna pay for it" argument would be invalidated almost overnight.
