Not for nothing and UK brehs can confirm this but I was watching John Boyega on hot ones and he said theater and the arts are tied in with after school programs in the UK so thats why a lot of British actors are getting on because they been doing that shyt since grade school

The producer at a college screening confirmed there was no audition, she just gave the role to Erivo. If the studio couldn't afford Davis and if she had prior engagements, then they should've went with a lesser known/less expensive Black American actress. My point is that our actresses have proven to be the best at what they do and their accolades confirm that. There was no need to go foreign.

I pointed this out in another thread. UK actors and actresses are able to nail accents and lingo some in america cant because they been apart of performing arts since they were young but in america you basically gotta have a ton of money to attend these schools for acting and the black youth who do attend normally come from white neighborhoods which is why they can land a role on the Disney channel but usually cant go further than that in landing a black role in Hollywood.

But this is also true for white actors and actresses as well which is why so many leads in major white shows like game of thrones, walking dead etc are going to white Canadian and british people. The real issue is we need more funding for performing arts and drama courses that were available about 30 years ago but got cut out immediately during school budget cuts. This country chose sports programs over art. That is what the real issue is.
