Yes, the Raiders are an important franchise in the history of this league, and yes, when they were in LA they helped dramatically shape the culture of the league, but come the fukk on, the answer is the San Francisco 49ers. Al Davis is probably the most iconic owner in league history, but he's basically all the Raiders can pin their hat on.

point is two franchises with lots of chips but barely any relevance. at least compared to the other top dawgs (cowboys, raiders, steelers, packers). all those franchises have a bigger footprint in the league.

I agree the players coach thing is basically a wash. 2 franchises who have made a great impact on the league. I honestly think the deciding factor in this (apart from Superbowls) is the Raiders decade of losing that has never been matched by the Niners. We have soared higher and never stooped as low.
