Who’s stronger....Wanda (Scarlet Witch) or Jean Grey (Dark Phoenix)?

Phoenix is mad inconsistent, but I'd lean towards a Jean who is in control of the Phoenix Force being able to beat Wanda. Thing is, Dark Phoenix Jean wasn't quite that.

Probably the best source to go by is how Wanda and the Phoenix Five were compared in Avengers vs. X-Men. Wanda was able to beat both Magik and Namor when the Phoenix Force was divided between five mutants (they were terrified of her, initially). It wasn't until the Phoenix was split between Scott and Emma 50/50 that either of them had the edge over Wanda in that story (Wanda needed to team up with Hope channeling her power and the Iron Fist to beat Dark Phoenix Cyclops at the end of the event).

That said, Jean was trying to fight the Phoenix's influence over her throughout the Dark Phoenix Saga (Scott and Emma weren't throughout most of Avengers vs. X-Men). I'd think that one of those moments where Jean and Phoenix weren't on the same page would be all that Wanda would need to win.

Most importantly, that wasn't House of M Wanda...who could blink out the Dark Phoenix in two panels. She turned Thor, Doom, and Sentry into puppets. Dark Phoenix Jean only showed up in one story. Xorneto gave her a global stroke and killed her for over 12 years..lol

I deliberately went with a mentally stable, yet still powerful version of Wanda over the version from House of M who was nuttier than squirrel shyt and more susceptible to being manipulated, mentally.

After researching going with Wanda. Based on how everyone phrased it, Jean Grey is like a Ferrari that can go from 0 to 60 in three seconds whereas Wanda takes longer to reach top speed but is more powerful in the long run. Also, it’s not really Jean thats the threat. It’s the Phoenix. Jean is just the only one who can contain effectively. But it can be removed I’m assuming whereas Wanda’s powers are more inherent. What’s stopping Wanda from wiping Jean Grey from existence? The Phoenix will just come back and try to find another host but, Jean would be gone.

Man I am in my mid 30s and I just can't expand the mental energy of made up fights. And I use to love that shyt.

Now it is more fun to come up with how a character could win given there skill set.

She actually did something similar to Namor with 1/5 if the Phoenix Force and he reformed elsewhere in a cold sweat. In that story, it came off as you having to knock the Phoenix out of them before being able to do real damage to the host.

Also, what is stopping Jean from mind controlling Wanda and making her wipe herself from existence? I honestly think Jean being the Dark Phoenix works against her here, as she wasn't all that competent despite being very powerful.

To a degree? When she woke up? It was lights out and not even Dr Strange stood a chance..which damn near ruined mutantkind for like 7 or 8 years.

It's easier to make a mess than it is to clean it up..lol, I got Wanda in this fight, especially if she has 'prep time' and can get the first lick off.

MC'ing Wanda is a deterrent, not a guaranteed knock out.

X put the wammy bammy on Wanda and she was still able to cast her spells, she has shown resistance to the PF as well.

I'm aware that Wanda has shown the ability to resist and harm Phoenix Force hosts (I said as much in my first post). However, once the Phoneix Force was split between Cyclops and Emma Frost, Wanda was a lot less effective, unleashing everything that she had against Cyclops and him shrugging it off. That said, I don't think Dark Phoenix Jean is stable or focused enough to put a sane Wanda down before Wanda drops her.

Also, Red Onslaught was able to pretty easily mind control Wanda in Uncanny Avengers.

I think that White Phoneix Jean would handle Scarlet Witch, sane or insane, but that isn't the version being debated.
