Frank Gore Stats - San Francisco 49ers - ESPN

Look at his targets at the height of Alex Smith's career. Only RBs with those type of targets are Ray Rice, MJD, CJ and Arian Foster....and all have played with a bunch of dink and dunkers themselves.
he was clearly talking about y/a this year, not his career. dont try to dodge the issue. the Niners are one of the least check-down teams in the league under Harbaugh/Roman. Overwhelming majority of time the RB stays blocking on a pass play and one of the TEs is a check-down outlet.

:comeon: Harabaugh only been a coach for 2 fukkin years.

Year 1 Gore was playing hurt

Year 2 Alex was replaced halfway

Why the fukk wouldn't I use the biggest sample size? The thread isn't about the 49ners offensive scheme, it's about the play/playstyle of Alex smith. :umad:

Last year's NFC Divisional Game between the Saints and Niners made me a believer in Alex Smith. We witnessed him score twice in the last 2 minutes of a a playoff game. I believe he's a significant upgrade over many QBs on some of these garbage ass teams (Chiefs, Bills, Jax). He doesn't turn the rock over. A few of these teams have a shot with him at QB.

Championship Teams?!?

Look at the teams we're talking about him going to, and ask yourself if any of those teams are championship teams...

We're not here talking about Alex Smith being the missing piece from a contender for fukks sake. We're talking about Alex Smith going to a team and stabilizing the QB position for the next 2-3 seasons.
You're out of your mind if you don't think A qb who doesn't turn the ball over, makes the correct throws, and doesn't put you in bad situations is a bad thing for any of these teams. These teams have multiple issues, but getting above average qb play should be at the top of their list...not drafting somebody from this class (especially this class) and hoping for the best.

:why:
You only do two things in sports with your team, suck till you get the players you need or be great, I don't believe in getting an average QB so he can give your team two more wins, what's the point. If I'm a new coach and GM you always go young because it gives you more job security, its the reason you see so many teams reaching for QBs in the draft. Signing Alex Smith for a couple of years and he sucks can end a coaches tenor quickly, drafting a rookie will give you more time at the job

lol so instead being a man and admitting you dont watch the niners you give me absolute bullshyt reasons as to why they dont checkdown to RBs under harbaugh ? :laff: youre a grade A faggit

because he was talking about y/a this year. and so were you. because...wait for it....alex's career y/a isnt shyt.

"Alex yard per attempt were top 5 in the league this season while being a 70% passer. "

His YPA was only high due to good dumpoffs to Gore.

bottom line is you said something utterly false about a team I watch every snap of for nearly 10 years, and Im calling your stupid ass out.

Yeah...that did wonders for Mike Mularky and Pat Shurmur. And Ron Riviera is hanging on to his job by the skin of his teeth.
You get leeway with a young quarterback if 2 things happen:
1 - That young quarterback shows promise
2 - If you win games

Nope. I was telling you why there wasn't high checkdowns the last two years. Not talking about harbaugh still. Not talking about they either. Thread is still about alex smith

You did a good job ignoring the part of my post where I talked about him targeting the TE too though. Gore wasn't the sole reason, I admit that. Not even the primary one. But a contributing factor, and I posted numbers to prove it.

Larry would hate to play with Alex, he would never get the ball. Alex can't find his WRs on the outside, he relies on the TE and running back checkdowns too much. Ask Mike Crabtree.

But this is still true

You spent all that time trying to argue down one sentence of an entire post that's still accurate.

I think he'd fit best with the Jets.

I hear AZ is going to go all out trying to trade for Cutler.

Supposedly, their new coach was the QB coach in Denver when they drafted Cutler.

Other wise, I'd say AZ was the perfect fit.

The two examples you used had changes in OWNERSHIP which means they will bring in their own people regardless, Rivera is getting a 3rd year, I would like to see how long he would have had his job if he decided to use Jimmy Clausen or Derek Anderson (he's been to a pro bowl before you start to clown him), again new regimes usually means new young QBs, Cleveland just drafted Weeden and they are looking at trying to get Kirk Cousins, the new regime wants a new guy
