when have you ever seen Alex Smith go down field more than 10 yards, a

he's a game manager at best

Obviously you don't actually watch games, just repeat what E!spn tells you.

Alex yard per attempt were top 5 in the league this season while being a 70% passer.

He's a much better option than what a lot of teams have right now.

Don't really see Alex as much of an upgrade over Henne or Kolb, so wouldn't think the Jags or Cardinals would get him. I think the Jets go for a cheaper option like Flynn when/if he gets released since Sanchez is owed a lot. That would really only leave the Chiefs

It's funny that a lot of people knock Alex for being a game manager, when that's exactly what a lot of these teams need.

He's stable at the qb position and isn't going to turn the ball over. Just imagine how the Cards season would've been if they had that stability at the QB position...or even the Jets or Eagles.

Whoever gets Smith will be getting a good QB.

I know you're a 49ers slappy, but your sports knowledge is questionable at best (the fiasco) anyway, he doesn't go down the field enough, he didn't do that at Utah either, I watched his games enough to know what he is, he's a manager, yards per attempt is a hollow stat, if you receivers that can get yards after the catch, it makes the QB look better, he went to Vernon Davis all day, he can't see the field and Vernon is open all the time, easy play and Vernon will get yards after the catch.

A game manger is what you need when you have all time great defense and a great running game (Baltimore 2000), the 49ers needed more than a game manger to make to the Super Bowl, at the end of the day game managers are great backups but not starting QBs of championship teams

This draft doesn't have a strong QB class....and there's no guarantee Geno can come in and do what Cam, RG3 and Russell Wilson did before him.

What we have here is a sitaution where Alex Smith is the BEST option available on the FA market....that's just the way it is. :manny:

Trust me, I've been a huge critic of Alex Smith....but there ARE teams that he could do well on (Chiefs come to mind).

I hear what you are saying but I'd rather take my chances on the draft, John Harbaugh is a great coach and maximized what Alex Smith was, this is Alex Smith's 9th season coming up, he is what he is, I'm not 100 percent sure he is better than a healthy Kolb

I dont see him doing well with crappy olines, which most likely is what hes finna get as a destination. he'll likely to resort back to being pre-harbaugh alex...

I also dont think hes that competitive that he just wont put up with being a backup. hes just not that by his nature. plus he made enough money in his career. if kaep goes down he can be a hero for a good team :manny:

A month ago, a CBS Sports reporter said it's considered a near lock within NFL circles that he'll be a Buffalo Bill next season.
